Cain Dingle’s Reunion with Caleb: Will Joe Tate’s Secret Be Revealed?

Next week on Emmerdale, there’s an unexpected outcome following Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) admission to the hospital.

In a twisted scheme orchestrated by his nephew, Joe Tate (played by Ned Porteous), Caleb narrowly escaped death after being stabbed with the intent of stealing one of his kidneys.

Ultimately, the kidney that belonged to Caleb was transplanted into Joe, and Caleb managed to recover. Not long after, Shaun, who had been hired by Caleb, was apprehended for his crimes.

This left Joe and Doctor Crowley (James Hillier) in a panic that the whole story would unravel.

In the ongoing storyline on ITV, Caleb stirs from his hospital bed to discover that his wife, Ruby (played by Beth Cordingly), had stayed with him throughout the night.

The authorities haven’t filed charges against the person they apprehended for the stabbing incident due to insufficient evidence, but Caleb promises to make sure he will be imprisoned for committing that crime.

Caleb’s half-brother Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) offers to look into the attack himself.

As Ross Barton (Michael Parr) begins to suspect, it seems too much of a coincidence that Joe just happened to be present when Caleb needed help.

After returning home, Caleb resolves to always appreciate his family more, and later in the evening, he and Cain share a drink, agreeing to put the past behind them following Cain’s brief romance with Ruby.

In their conversation, Cain and Caleb confide that they would look after each other’s loved ones if anything were to befall either of them.

However, even though the brothers have reconciled, it remains to be seen how Ross’s doubts about Joe will play out.

After being told to depart from the village following his transplant, could it be that Joe decides to stay, aiming to reconcile with his married lover Dawn Fletcher (played by Olivia Bromley)? If so, wouldn’t this potentially jeopardize his plan?

With Cain keen to help Caleb, could the pair team up to find Shaun?

If the police can’t hold him, what’s to stop Shaun spilling the truth behind why he stabbed Caleb?

Emmerdale airs these scenes from Monday 31st March 2025.
