As a seasoned Call of Duty player with years of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation as I read about the upcoming addition of Gunfight to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta. This mode has been a staple in my gaming sessions since its debut in Modern Warfare (2019), and I’ve enjoyed every iteration since then.
During the second week of the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” beta, players have received another update along with patch notes for review. Regrettably, this latest update primarily addresses XP issues and bug fixes without introducing any fresh content except for Scud’s return to the Core Moshpit playlist. Players eagerly awaiting the new Gunfight mode exclusive to “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” can rejoice as it is set to go live soon, though its release may be slightly delayed compared to some expectations.
For the unaware, Gunfight is a competitive mode in Call of Duty, specifically introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). It takes place on smaller maps or Strike maps, with two teams of two players. Each team starts off with identical random loadouts, ensuring fairness for all involved. Lately, it has been a much-desired feature among players testing Black Ops 6 with their friends, and this demand is about to be satisfied soon.
“Tomorrow, we’ll see the arrival of a gunfight and the new map called ‘Stakeout’. This was announced by Treyarch via their tweet over the weekend, along with details in the update’s patch notes.
The gunfight was originally planned for the second week during the beta testing phase, though its exact release date remained uncertain. Since it first appeared in Modern Warfare, it has also been featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Therefore, Call of Duty enthusiasts haven’t been deprived of it for too long. However, the anticipation among players has been high due to the introduction of new maps and the possibility of omnimovement in this rendition of Gunfight.
It is unclear if the reintroduction of Gunfight mode and the addition of a fresh map will arrive with an upcoming Black Ops 6 update, but we do know that there is indeed a new update today, complete with updated patch notes. The details of these changes can be found below; adjustments have been made to Weapon XP, among other things, following the previous update’s focus on toning down the excessive power of the Jackal PDW.
