As a seasoned Call of Duty veteran with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I must say that the launch of Black Ops 6 has been a rollercoaster ride – a thrilling Campaign and Zombies mode balanced by the inevitable early bugs in Multiplayer. This time around, it seems the Perk system is causing some trouble, with players finding themselves underpowered due to an update that’s seemingly broken all but the first Perk slot in each loadout.

Once again during the debut week of Call of Duty, early glitches have surfaced. The titanic franchise has lived up to expectations with the release of Black Ops 6, earning critical acclaim for its gripping Campaign mode and adrenaline-pumping Zombies experience. However, the Multiplayer aspect has seen a polarized response, as new bugs and issues emerge almost simultaneously with Treyarch’s attempts to rectify them.

In this recent update, it appears that the Perk system in the Multiplayer matches has been affected, making the Operators seem weaker than usual. The problem lies with the October 29th update, which seems to have only left the initial Perk slot functioning in each loadout. This is a significant concern, not just for the overall gameplay experience, but also for players trying to advance quickly through the camouflage progression at the start of the game. However, there’s a temporary solution available for now, so here are the steps you should follow.

Appearing from an external perspective, it appears the problem originates with the initial Perk slot. Although a player’s displayed loadout might show various Perks activated, accessing the Selection menu will only present duplicates of the options in Slot 1. Rather than having the ability to pick from typical perks in Slot 2, you’ll encounter repetitions of Slot 1 choices instead. This issue can be challenging to spot at first glance, but Treyarch’s swift resolution is exactly what’s needed to address it.

Instead, players can now access their loadout bonuses not from the selection menu, but by utilizing the Slots section at the top of the Perk interface. This change eliminates issues and ensures all your preferred loadout boosts are fully operational. Plus, you’ll find the same menu when customizing your loadouts during a game, so there’s no concern about being stuck with irrelevant Perks if you need to swap them on-the-fly.

On the multiplayer front, there are a few technical issues causing troubles at the moment. Occasional freezes during loading sequences, getting the wrong equipment loadouts from the selection menu, and instant deaths after choosing a loadout in Search & Destroy are all being addressed by Treyarch for resolution.

Remember, every new release of “Call of Duty” usually has some hiccups when it first launches. So, you might encounter unexpected problems in matches during the initial week. If you run into a bug or simply want to stay updated on what’s being addressed by the developers, check out their Trello page. This is where they keep tabs on all known issues, record fixes, and communicate with the community about upcoming updates.

It’s not all bad news for Multiplayer fans, however. The same October 29th update also brought the first post-launch content update to the game, with the fan-favorite Infected mode making its Black Ops 6 debut. Additionally, Nuketown will be the first map added to the game. A franchise staple, this version has none of the bells and whistles of later incarnations. It’s the pure, 1950s edition of the map that fans first fell in love with back in Black Ops 1.

New maps are expected to roll out over the coming weeks, with Season 1 officially starting on November 14th. That’s when Raven Software and their collaborating studios will fully integrate Black Ops Cold War into Warzone.
