Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 — List of bugs, errors, and known issues

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experience under my belt, I must say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has certainly lived up to its hype – at least, most of it! While the game offers an immersive and thrilling experience across all modes, it seems that some technical issues have crept in.

One of the year’s biggest games has finally arrived, and with it, there are naturally some bugs.

Worldwide release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 by Activision, Treyarch, and Raven Software is now live, introducing a plethora of modifications to its established gameplay structure across the campaign, multiplayer, and zombie modes. Being a large-scale game, as expected, some glitches and issues are being spotted by players. I will be compiling these problems along with potential fixes or developer acknowledgments indicating that solutions are on the way.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – List of general bugs and issues

Applying updates error

Black Ops 6 gets stuck on the main menu saying “Applying updates,” you should follow these steps in your Steam library:

Blue character bug

It seems some gamers are encountering an issue with characters in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 appearing blue. This isn’t a typical bug, but rather a situation where certain players find themselves with the High Contrast Mode accidentally activated due to its default setting instead of requiring manual activation. To resolve this issue, navigate to your Settings, locate the Accessibility settings, and then disable the High Contrast Mode.

DirectX error

Some users of Steam are experiencing a problem where their game fails to launch properly, instead showing a DirectX error message upon startup.

Here’s a simpler way to explain that: Solution: To fix the game issue in your Steam library, follow these steps:

Twitch drops not showing up

It appears that some players haven’t received their Twitch rewards for watching Call of Duty: NEXT earlier this year. However, Activision has clarified that these drops will be distributed at the game’s launch, so it’s best to remain patient and revisit the issue later on.

Woods Operator Pack missing

Some Vault Edition owners on Steam are currently missing their Woods Operator Packs.

Solution: Treyarch is currently investigating the issue.

A blockbuster experience

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch has blended their expertise in multiplayer and zombies with a captivating campaign developed by Raven Software, who previously collaborated on the campaign for 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Keep an eye out for our review, which will be posted here once it’s complete.

2024’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 marks the initial release in the Call of Duty series to be primarily developed as an exclusive Xbox title, approximately one and a half years following Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard. While 2023’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was technically the first, it was launched mere days after the acquisition agreement was finalized.

Currently, Microsoft is making available a unique range of Xbox accessories tailored for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This includes customizable controllers through the Xbox Design Lab and an Xbox Series X cover featuring the game’s theme, both of which are accessible for purchase immediately.

Currently, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” can be played on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. As it’s an exclusive Xbox title, it is also accessible through “Xbox Game Pass Ultimate,” as well as the PC version of Game Pass, and even via “Xbox Cloud Gaming.
