What you need to know
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 dropped the “Carry Forward” philosophy from Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 that let players use purchased or unlocked cosmetics and Double XP tokens across different games.
- A recent patch introduced a UI glitch that made the legacy XP visible in the live Black Ops 6 build, but a second patch was quickly released to remove them once again.
- Treyarch has said the UI glitch caused issues with game stability, but the team is working to properly integrate legacy XP tokens in a future update.
- You can still use your legacy tokens in Black Ops 6, but it takes a workaround. Launch Call of Duty: Warzone, activate the tokens you want to use from Warzone, and then change modes to multiplayer or zombies for Black Ops 6. The legacy XP tokens you activated will remain in effect until the timer runs out.
As a long-time Call of Duty enthusiast who has been grinding through countless seasons and prestiges, I must admit that my initial excitement over the Season 1 update for Black Ops 6 quickly turned to disappointment upon realizing that the UI glitch allowing us to utilize legacy double XP tokens was merely a fleeting illusion. The quick patch that removed the legacy XP from our dashboard felt like a punch in the gut, leaving me and many others scrambling for alternative ways to level up without relying solely on Strategist and Hardpoint.
In Season 1 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, an unforeseen user interface issue occurred, enabling players to employ old double XP tokens even though Treyarch had stated these tokens wouldn’t transition into Black Ops 6. This was followed by a swift second update that took away the legacy XP from the Black Ops 6 interface, which left players disappointed. However, Treyarch has announced on their social media platform that they are currently devising methods to incorporate legacy XP tokens into Black Ops 6 at a later time.
Beginning on Season 1, a UI glitch in Black Ops 6 let players use old XP tokens. However, this glitch may have affected the game’s stability, which is why it was fixed yesterday. We understand how valuable it is for players to redeem these legacy items…November 16, 2024
If you’ve recently played any of the Call of Duty games such as Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, or Warzone, chances are you’re acquainted with their Double XP tokens. These tokens are usually given to players as a prize for taking part in special events or finishing battle passes. They’re also frequently used as promotional items when Call of Duty teams up with other brands, like the recent partnerships between Corsair and Black Ops 6, or Black Ops 6 and Little Caesars. There are three types of Double XP tokens to collect: ones that boost player experience points, weapon experience points, and battle pass experience points.
Users have the option to utilize double XP tokens in Call of Duty HQ, which increases their character’s or weapon’s experience points. This makes the tedious process of leveling up and prestiging more bearable. Additionally, these tokens can help advance through a seasonal battle pass, allowing players to unlock desired cosmetics faster.
Long-term team members have amassed an excess of double XP tokens due to their frequent participation in the game, as these tokens were regularly awarded but often went unused due to experience caps during seasonal play. With Black Ops 6 reintroducing classic prestige and introducing Prestige Master at launch with over 1000 levels, it also eliminated the ability to carry forward tokens from previous games. In order to quickly level up in Black Ops 6, players primarily relied on the game modes Strategist and Hardpoint. The UI glitch caused by the Season 1 patch gave players hope that they could access their token stashes again to make the process of grinding through prestige a bit easier.
regrettably, Treyarch and Raven Software have rolled out another update that takes away the legacy tokens from the Black Ops dashboard within Call of Duty HQ, making them unavailable again. These teams claim this step is essential to avoid a problem with the game’s stability due to the inclusion of legacy tokens in Black Ops 6. But fear not for those who rely on our token collections for an advantage, as Treyarch has confirmed they are working towards re-introducing legacy XP tokens in a future update, once the stability issue is resolved.
Currently, legacy Double XP tokens are temporarily unavailable in Black Ops 6, but they might be reintroduced later. Since the start of Season 1, Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6 have been connected, allowing player accounts to sync across both games. Legacy XP tokens, which were previously accessible only in Call of Duty: Warzone, can now be activated within Warzone, and their benefits will continue even if a player switches to a Black Ops 6 playlist. However, players should keep in mind that double XP tokens have an expiration date. If they wish to prolong their double XP time, they may need to revisit Warzone during their gaming session to collect more double XP from their legacy token collection. This workaround is still valid (and has been approved by Treyarch and Raven Software) until a new update restores the legacy Double XP tokens in Black Ops 6.
