As a seasoned analyst with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be a blockbuster release. The extended look at the campaign mission “Most Wanted” during Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live was a game-changer for me.

At the opening ceremony of Gamescom 2024, Raven Software unveiled a detailed glimpse into the upcoming story mission called “Most Wanted” for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the latest high-priced addition to the hit first-person shooter series.

The fresh look at the campaign featured new gameplay elements, showing players infiltrating an event for a senator. New equipment can be seen, including the use of a camera to take a photo, which is then used to bypass a facial recognition scanner. The selected mission centers around the newly rogue Black Ops squad as they free returning character Russell Adler. Gun play and combat against heavily armored enemies, a vehicle chase featuring stolen dirt bikes, and a look at the all-new explosive, homing, throwable knife were all part of the trailer. The new movement system, which has been dubbed Omnimovement, was also seen in the gameplay reveal, with the player diving backward to land prone on their back.

On October 25th, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 makes its debut on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, marking the first time any Call of Duty title launches on these subscription services on release day. This upcoming game has generated significant excitement, as it’s been in development for a record-breaking 4 years – longer than any other premium Call of Duty release to date. Although Treyarch is credited as the lead developer for Black Ops 6, the campaign development has primarily been overseen by the team from Raven Software, who were also instrumental in creating 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The narrative for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 delves into a re-imagined timeline filled with enigmas and conspiracy theories. Meanwhile, the multiplayer includes 16 fresh maps, and the popular Zombies mode is set to return with its classic round-based gameplay, as revealed in a comprehensive data dump.

With the anticipation building, the prolonged sneak peek into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is guaranteed to keep fans excited before the upcoming COD: Next event, set for August 28. During COD: Next, spectators can expect an in-depth exploration of both the multiplayer and Zombies aspects of the game, along with future plans for Call of Duty: Warzone. On August 28, players will also have the opportunity to preload the open beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The first weekend of this open beta is scheduled to start on August 30. In an effort to prevent early access to Black Ops 6’s multiplayer following a modification to Call of Duty HQ, its publisher Activision has been actively working to plug leaks on jailbroken PS4 systems.

Currently, pre-orders are available for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. You can choose from three editions – Standard, Cross-gen, or Vault. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you’ll receive the Cross-gen edition on release day, and there’s an option to upgrade to the Vault edition at a reduced price. Pre-ordering also grants you the Woods operator bundle for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (at launch).
