There could potentially be news about a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game coming up soon, as hints have been found in Grind, a skatepark-themed map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 that has recently appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
According to CharlieIntel’s observation, the newest version of Grind sports a logo strikingly reminiscent of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, the impressive reboot of two timeless games that debuted in 2020. The emblem itself holds the date “03.04.25,” suggesting a potential unveiling on March 4, 2025.
From my perspective as an analyst, if the initial clue didn’t already pique your interest, Tony Hawk himself responded to CharlieIntel on Twitter with a playful eyeball emoji, pouring even more gasoline onto the speculation about what’s brewing in the skatepark world.
What kind of Tony Hawk game could be on the way?
There’s a lot of buzz suggesting that it could be a hint towards the revival of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, combining these cherished titles from the primary series and updating them for contemporary gaming platforms.
It isn’t certain which team will be responsible for this remake, given that Vicarious Visions, a studio based in Boston known for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, has been moved under Blizzard Entertainment and now focuses on the Diablo series as Blizzard Albany.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 saw tremendous sales success, swiftly selling more than a million units during its initial release, thereby establishing itself as the best-selling launch for the series up to that point.
Since Microsoft took over Activision Blizzard King, they’ve been adding some of their old games to Xbox Game Pass, such as the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and StarCraft 2. However, there are many other games that haven’t made it onto the service yet, like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.
Could it be possible that there will be a two-fold reveal for the upcoming game, one being its arrival on Xbox Game Pass and the other unveiling a brand new title? Additionally, I’m eager to find out which studio is behind the development of this new project.
In his critique on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, my previous coworker Miles Dompier stated that the remake was a remarkable success. It is not common for a game, particularly a remake, to meet such high expectations as mine, but in this instance, Vicarious Visions surpassed all expectations with these beloved skating games from the past. They skillfully enhanced the visuals and gameplay of my cherished titles more than they have ever been before.
