Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is Out Now on Game Pass

As a longtime fan of the Call of Duty franchise, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) had made its way to Microsoft’s Game Pass! The nostalgia hit me hard as I watched the release trailer, transporting me back to the thrilling moments I experienced during my first playthrough in 2011.

Activision’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” has been added to Game Pass’s library for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One users. Watch the trailer below for a sneak peek. The news of its release followed widespread speculation.

In the third installment of the Modern Warfare series’ comeback, titled “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (II)“, the narrative follows Captain Price and his team, Task Force 141, on a mission to apprehend Vladimir Makarov. This edition introduces Open Combat Missions, allowing players greater flexibility in accomplishing objectives. The multiplayer component boasts sixteen refurbished maps from the earlier “Modern Warfare 2 (2008)”, while Zombies offers a PvEvP (Player vs Environment and Player) extraction shooter mode with distinctive surprises.

Introduced in November 2023, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” faced severe backlash for its lackluster campaign, problematic multiplayer matchmaking, and questionable storytelling (as noted in our critique). Despite the criticism, it proved financially successful, ranking at the top of sales charts in the US during November and December of the previous year.

Microsoft has kept quiet about any other games joining their catalog imminently. However, starting October 25th, you can get your hands on Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. For more information about the game and its upcoming beta, check it out here.
