Verdansk didn’t merely resurrect an old map and evoke nostalgia among the players; it also introduced a fresh take on the battle royale genre, dubbed as “casual” mode. In this mode, only a limited number of human players engage alongside numerous AI-controlled characters.

The concept seems to be that the casual mode is designed for more relaxed players. These individuals might be interested in dipping their toes into Warzone, improving their weapon skills, or honing their abilities without feeling pressured to dedicate all their time to the game. Given that Warzone is known as one of the most intense games out there, I understand the reasoning behind this.

Currently, the developers of Warzone have emphasized in an interview with IGN that they are carefully monitoring the casual mode to prevent it from being affected by more competitive players who might accidentally influence it from other game modes.

On one side, it seems that perspiring players might prefer the ease of the casual mode for swiftly leveling up fresh weapons or achieving event goals. I agree, as even bot-inflicted deaths contribute to weapon experience points.

My concern lies in the fact that many of these players might view themselves as “content producers” and could resort to playing casual mode solely to boost their kill counts and produce engaging social media content.

For those playing casually, this action doesn’t enhance their gaming experience. On the contrary, for those overly competitive types who might argue that casual players don’t deserve a welcoming environment, it would be best if they kept quiet.

Call of Duty is a versatile game suitable for everyone. If you find yourself with free time instead of being at work, why not pick up a game you love and have fun? It’s the game, not the casual player, that should be fixed if it fails to provide enjoyment in non-competitive settings.
