Call the Midwife confirms season 14 air date as series returns next month

As a devoted follower of Call the Midwife, I can confidently say that the festive season just got even more enchanting! With the promise of not one, but two Christmas specials, and the commencement of a new season, it’s safe to say that my heart is brimming with anticipation.

During the holiday season, it’s always thrilling for fans of “Call the Midwife” as we not only get a special Christmas episode but also the start of a brand-new season!

I’m thrilled to share that I can finally set my calendar for the return of my cherished period drama! It’s official: BBC One has announced its premiere on my favorite channel, BBC One, airing the first episode on Sunday, 5th January at 8pm.

This year’s holiday special will be divided into two segments, a novelty since it has never been done before. The first part is scheduled to air on Christmas Day, while the second one will follow on Boxing Day.

1969 at Christmastime finds our beloved characters returning, as portrayed in a summary. The midwives, who are shown working diligently to deliver babies and devoting themselves wholeheartedly to their calling, are particularly busy in this scene.

Additionally, Poplar is hosting a lively carnival that brings “a splash of color and thrill to the wintry scenery”. However, it’s important to note some difficulties are looming, such as flu outbreaks like influenza and the Hong Kong flu, not forgetting an escaped convict.

Regarding what’s in store for the entire upcoming season, a social media post hinted at the conclusion of filming and gave a sneak peek into a “significant scene” for season 14. This may cause some viewers to shed a tear or two.

About a week past, the news broke out that filming had concluded, as evidenced by a fresh photo featuring Stephen McGann, portraying Dr Turner, and Natalie Quarry, in her Nurse Clifford role, posing with a clapperboard.

Just received a classic ‘clapperboard’ shot from the set of Call the Midwife, indicating that the last scene for Series 14 has been successfully wrapped up!!!

Call the Midwife season 14 will begin airing on Sunday 5th January 2025 on BBC One at 8pm.

As a true cinephile, I eagerly anticipate spending Christmas Eve by settling in for the first part of the Call the Midwife Christmas special airing at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The holiday spirit continues as I return on Boxing Day at 7:30pm to catch Part 2.
