Call the Midwife ratings confirmed for 2-part Christmas special

As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of viewing history under my belt, I must say that the latest Call the Midwife Christmas special has once again proven its worth as a timeless British gem.

This year’s Call the Midwife Christmas special’s overnight ratings have been released, and it’s clear that the program enjoys a large fan base as countless viewers chose to spend their holiday watching this cherished period series.

For the initial occasion, this year’s event was divided into two distinct segments. The opening segment aired on Christmas Day, specifically on 25th December, while the concluding part was scheduled for Boxing Day, which falls on the 26th of December.

As confirmed by the BBC, the first episode drew in a total of 4.42 million viewers.

On Christmas Day, the viewership of the program exceeded nine other shows, with only Gavin & Stacey (12.32 million viewers), Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (9.38 million viewers), and The King’s Speech (6.82 million viewers) having a higher viewership. This was the first time that all ten most-watched Christmas Day shows were broadcast on BBC One.

In the meantime, the second episode became number one on the Boxing Day ratings, reaching approximately 4 million viewers and outranking a fresh episode of Outnumbered for the top position.

In January, the 14th season of “Call the Midwife” is scheduled to air, promising to delve into various plotlines such as Nancy’s budding relationship, the state of Trixie and Matthew’s matrimony, and the unfortunate encounter with racism experienced by Joyce.
