Call the Midwife Responds to Olly Rix’s Criticism Over Exit and Ending

A representative for Call the Midwife commented following statements made by Olly Rix, the on-screen character Matthew Aylward in the series, regarding his exit from the program a year ago.

While conversing with Hello!, Rix was questioned about how his latest role on Casualty compares to his time acting on Call the Midwife.

He responded: “It’s hard for me to talk about that show. I don’t love talking about it.”

When queried as to his hesitance in discussing ‘Call the Midwife’, he replied: “I consider myself quite fortunate. Generally, I look back on jobs with great affection, but naturally, one must let go of the past and progress to new endeavors.

Regarding that specific project, I wasn’t pleased with how things concluded. I felt a lack of honesty and regard from them, which I found unsettling. I believe it’s better to move on and not dwell on it too much.
