As someone who has spent countless winter evenings huddled under blankets with a hot cup of tea and Call the Midwife, I eagerly anticipate the annual Christmas special. With my heart full of nostalgia for the warm, community-centric stories that have become a staple of my holiday viewing, I can’t help but feel a sense of joy and excitement at the prospect of another heartwarming installment.
With autumn’s chill in the air and the year drawing to a close, television enthusiasts can’t help but anticipate one particularly delightful event each holiday season: the enchanting Call the Midwife Christmas episode.
Speaking excitedly about this year’s upcoming special, I shared that it will be a delightful blend of joyous amusement reminiscent of a lively carnival and the familiar somber undertones synonymous with “Call the Midwife.
Simultaneously, Gethings playfully quipped, “There will be both tears and laughter; it’s always heartwarming. It’s a story of community, but remember, they are often challenged during the holidays. It’s not only about hugs and Horlicks.
Later on, McGann commented: “It’s a unique episode, our show’s Christmas special, and it’s the one that resonates most with viewers. I believe its popularity grows along with the holiday spirit, which we’re genuinely touched by. For us, Christmas is indeed a special occasion.
McGann also shared his thoughts about being on this year’s NTAs shortlist, stating: “It’s wonderful! I’m astounded, because the nominations are determined by the public, and we were just discussing, [the fact] that we make it through after so many years, just to be shortlisted is something we never, ever underestimate.

As time goes by, the Turner kids seem to mature at an astonishing pace! What’s more, every new season brings them closer together as friends – and their enjoyment during filming is palpable.
It’s truly heartwarming to witness the camaraderie among them, and I must say, our ensemble is ever-inclusive. They always extend a warm welcome to the budding talents who join us as significant guest actors in our series.
