As a devoted fan of Call the Midwife, I must say that this year’s Christmas special promises to be nothing short of extraordinary! With my heart filled with nostalgia and anticipation, I can hardly wait to witness the Turner children’s growth and the new friendships they forge on set.
Even though Christmas seems far off, the cast of “Call the Midwife” is getting ready for their holiday special with panache, offering glimpses into the making-of process. They’ve hinted that this upcoming episode will be filled with high drama.
On their latest social media update, Call the Midwife released a picture featuring four budding talents, all decked out in wintry attire. One of them is seen clutching a miniature clapboard, getting ready to shoot the upcoming holiday special.
Shown here are Myla Park, April Rae Hoang (known as May), Alice Brown (also known as Angela), and Edward Shaw (often called Ned). These individuals, particularly Myla Park, will have a significant part in the storyline alongside Patrick and Shelagh Turner’s children.
Year by year, the Turner siblings seem to mature at an astonishing pace! Moreover, as each new season arrives, their bond deepens, and filming becomes a source of even greater enjoyment for them all.
It’s delightful to witness the camaraderie among them; their circle of friends is consistently inviting to new, young actors who join us to portray significant roles in our shows.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating Myla’s upcoming role. Although the specific character hasn’t been disclosed yet, it seems she’ll be connected to her Turner family. The hint from Call the Midwife is intriguing – when we next see Myla on screen, it’ll likely be in a more dramatic scenario.
As a dedicated fan of period dramas, I am thrilled to hear that filming for this year’s Christmas special has already begun back in April! With my extensive background in British literature and history, I have always been captivated by the Turners, so I eagerly anticipate seeing their story unfold on screen. The BBC drama’s confirmation of production is like music to my ears, as it promises a delightful escape into the past during the festive season.
“Our filming commenced during Christmas of 1969, transitioning into the new year, followed by a new series consisting of 14 episodes.”
“This Christmas is a special milestone, marking our final shoot set in the vibrant 60’s. We’re moving on to the fast-paced 70’s next!”
Heidi Thomas, both writer and executive producer, shared that even after so many years, she experiences a flutter of excitement whenever she views the initial setup photo from the filming location. The upcoming series, number 14, is positioned in the year 1970, transporting us into an exhilarating new era.
“We’re eagerly anticipating sharing with you another season brimming with heartwarming, thrilling, emotionally charged tales straight from Nonnatus House.”
Call the Midwife is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
