Capcom announces Capcom Games Competition – student competition utilizing RE ENGINE

As a seasoned gamer with a background in game development and a deep-rooted passion for Japanese gaming culture, I can hardly contain my excitement about Capcom’s inaugural Capcom Games Competition! Having dabbled in game creation myself, I know the challenges and rewards that come with such a venture.

Capcom has unveiled the Capcom Games Competition, which marks their inaugural gaming tournament exclusively for Japanese students, employing their unique RE ENGINE technology.

The contest invites students to design video games using tools like RE ENGINE within a cloud infrastructure. Students can assemble teams consisting of up to 20 members, where they’ll define roles based on game development positions. They’ll receive guidance from experienced developers at Capcom and collaborate to produce a single game over the course of six months. Capcom intends to provide production assistance and the possibility of commercialization for winning entries, while each team will keep ownership and copyright of their games.

Capcom stated that the purpose of hosting this contest is twofold: to bolster the video game sector and act as a conscientious corporate entity. They also emphasized their commitment to carrying out more corporate social responsibility initiatives in the future.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the application window for this competition opens on December 9, 2024, and closes on January 17, 2025. If you’re a student over 18 years old, currently enrolled in a university, graduate school, or vocational school in Japan, I’ve got news for you – you’re eligible to apply! You can find the application form right here. Let’s get those skills showcased and compete!
