Captain America 4’s Thursday Box Office Below Quantumania (but Beats Winter Soldier)

As a movie enthusiast penning down my thoughts after the Thursday box office numbers rolled in for “Captain America: Brave New World”, I must say that this Marvel sequel has shown some promising signs. With an estimated domestic earnings of around $12 million from preview screenings, it’s certainly caught the attention of fans – and that’s a good thing!

Comparatively, it surpasses the figures “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” earned from its preview screenings back in 2014 ($10.2 million). However, it didn’t quite reach the same heights as “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, which opened in a similar February window way back in 2023. That film managed to rake in an impressive $17.5 million from preview screenings, paving the way for its stunning $120.3 million debut over Presidents’ Day weekend.

All in all, while “Captain America: Brave New World” may not have broken any records just yet, it’s off to a solid start and has certainly stirred anticipation among viewers. I, for one, am eagerly looking forward to seeing where this exciting chapter in Captain America’s journey takes us!

The upcoming movie “Captain America: Brave New World” is expected to earn approximately $80 million domestically over a standard three-day weekend, and around $94 million during the extended holiday weekend. This estimated opening is one of the smallest for a Captain America film, surpassed only by 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” ($65 million). Even “The Winter Soldier” earned more on its first three days ($95 million), and “Captain America: Civil War” holds one of the highest openings with $179.1 million in 2016.

This story is developing.
