5-time WWE World Champion Seth Rollins has made it official that his expected part in Captain America: Brave New World has been eliminated due to significant script revisions and reshooting processes in preparation for the upcoming Marvel movie.
During a video chat with YouTube personality Chris Van Vliet, Rollins discussed his role, or rather the absence of it, in the most recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), providing some insight into the matter.
Not me, kid. Sorry.

At first, Rollins was chosen for the movie to be part of the Serpent Society, and pictures were even taken of him in costume on the film set. But that was before a string of disappointing test screenings supposedly caused extensive script revisions and last-minute retakes.
Rollins affirmed he isn’t involved in that movie, despite wishing it success. He clarified, stating, ‘The script underwent numerous revisions and reshoots, so the part I was meant to play… In essence, my role either changed drastically or was removed altogether.’
Last night’s segment featuring Seth Rollins on WWE Raw was pre-recorded, as he is currently involved in the filming of Marvel’s “Captain America: New World Order.
Behind the scenes, there’s a lot of joy, but there’s also some uncertainty about officially giving him this title if his performances in future roles remain consistent.

Rollins additionally revealed that he tried out for an alternative character, but the entire project’s course was changed instead.
The WWE star confessed that they had tried out for another part, but couldn’t say for certain if they got it due to the uncertainty about their role’s repurposing. However, they mentioned that the production team decided to go in a different direction, which required extensive rewrites and reshoots.
Regardless of the alterations, Rollins appeared hopeful about the movie, expressing, “They have a completed project that I hope they’re satisfied with, and I hope it does well. However, it won’t feature Seth Rollins anymore.
When Van Vliet shared the trailer snippet that fans assumed included Rollins, the WWE personality playfully reacted.
Rollins stated that he wasn’t in the movie, so viewers shouldn’t go expecting to see him. He didn’t want anyone to mistakenly believe they were there to watch Seth Rollins, as it might disappoint a handful of fans. To avoid misleading or leading people astray, he emphasized that he’s not part of the film.
When asked about his thoughts on acting, Rollins made it clear where his passions lie.
“If I’m not [in a movie], I don’t care,” he said. “I don’t love acting. I love wrestling.”
John Cena’s previous comments about Hollywood were similar to those he made, suggesting it was an unappealing idea. He frequently criticized those who departed from WWE for the allure of Hollywood, particularly Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Interestingly, Cena has now followed a path into Hollywood, starring as the lead in James Gunn’s movie titled “Peacemaker.
The making of “Captain America: Brave New World” has been accompanied by rumors of turmoil. It appears that major re-filming took place earlier this year to introduce Giancarlo Esposito’s new villain, Sidewinder, who leads the Serpent Society. These re-shoots have allegedly led to delays and sparked concerns about the overall consistency of the final movie.
As a dedicated cinephile, I must admit that I’ve found myself in the midst of an engaging debate about the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), specifically “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” where Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson steps into the iconic role of Captain America. Some fellow enthusiasts have expressed their concerns over the MCU’s shift towards more direct political messaging and decisions that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Critics argue that this change has resulted in themes of identity politics overshadowing the character-driven narratives we’ve come to love. They see “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” as a prime example of this phenomenon.
Instead of the Captain America films offering exhilarating period war tales, nail-biting espionage adventures, and massive superhero showdowns, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier delved into themes such as borderless societies, racial disparities, and an Avenger’s struggle to secure a loan.
Additionally, it attempted to persuade the crowd to favor a band of ruthless extremists instead of an honorable American soldier, who was merely taking up a position that he was given.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’m always eager to see where the Marvel Cinematic Universe will go next. It’s no easy feat to keep both fans and studio executives happy with each new addition, but the upcoming release of “Captain America: Brave New World” on Valentine’s Day 2025 could provide some insight into the franchise’s future course. The recent departure of actor Rollins from the project only heightens the mystery and anticipation surrounding this film, as it navigates its way through a bumpy production process to eventually reach our screens.
