Despite being one of the early blockbusters for the year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film titled “Captain America: Brave New World” struggled during its cinema release. In an attempt to regain momentum, it’s now available on Disney+ streaming service. Recently, Marvel has shared a brief promotional video for the movie, which you can view at the top of this space. The video focuses primarily on Sam Wilson’s battle against Red Hulk (a key aspect in the marketing) and includes other exciting action clips that may seem out of context when viewed without prior knowledge.
As a cinephile, I’ve recently had the pleasure of revisiting “Captain America: Brave New World” from the comfort of my own home, thanks to its digital release and the convenience of my Disney+ subscription. No longer do I need to wait for cinema screenings or DVD releases; this superhero adventure is now readily available at my fingertips!
In the cinematic universe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the final movie of Phase 5, titled “Captain America: Brave New World“, was released in February. This marked Anthony Mackie’s debut as Captain America in a feature film. The movie garnered mixed reactions and had the poorest Rotten Tomatoes rating among all Captain America films. Additionally, “Brave New World” became one of the least profitable MCU installments, amassing $415.1 million globally.
Regardless of the modest reception for “Brave New World”, Captain America remains a crucial figure in the upcoming Multiverse Saga. Anthony Mackie will revisit his role in “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. The actor expresses optimism about portraying the character for another ten years.
Although “Captain America: Brave New World” didn’t do well in cinemas, this doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t succeed on streaming platforms. History is filled with movies that bombed at the box office but found their audience later on. For instance, the sci-fi film “Mickey 17” ended up being HBO Max’s top movie, despite underperforming in theaters. It’s possible that “Brave New World” could follow a similar path. Since it wasn’t considered a must-see at the cinema due to word of mouth, many might find it more appealing to watch from the comfort of their homes. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if “Captain America: Brave New World” gains a good following on streaming platforms as people catch up on what they missed in theaters.
As a fan, I can’t help but feel it’s perfect timing for “Brave New World” to grace our screens on Disney+. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has found its groove again with the successful premiere of “Thunderbolts,” which has garnered praise from both critics and fans alike. The anticipation for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” set to debut this July, is palpable, promising an exciting future for the MCU in the coming years. Given Sam Wilson’s crucial role in the upcoming “Avengers” movies, as hinted at by his legal dispute with the New Avengers in the “Thunderbolts” post-credits scene, I can hardly wait to witness how all these intriguing storylines intertwine.
