In the film “Captain America: Brave New World,” I, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), take on the mantle of Captain America after the events depicted in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” This movie delves into my journey as I grapple with the weighty responsibility left by the esteemed Steve Rogers, who’s chosen to step back from his role. However, my strained bond with President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) and a series of escalating events, including an international crisis and emerging threats, push the world perilously close to chaos. With Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) by my side as the new Falcon, it falls upon us to don the red, white, and blue once more to prevent global instability from taking hold.
Although it’s not a complete flop, “Captain America: Brave New World” has several issues. The main actors deliver good performances and the action scenes are exciting. However, viewers have complained about its confusing plot, perhaps because it tries to handle too many aspects simultaneously. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is praised for its intricate connections between various movies and series, but “Brave New World” refers to previous plots a bit too much, which negatively impacts the film. One of the films that “Brave New World” frequently references is 2021’s “Eternals“, but those links don’t quite fit well.
Why Is It Called “Celestial Island”?
In the film Eternals, the titled group of celestial beings thwarted the emergence – the awakening of a colossal being from rising up from the Earth, which would have led to its demise. All that remains now are the hardened leftovers of the being, referred to as a “Celestial,” with just part of its head and arm protruding from the waters of the Indian Ocean.
How do Earth’s inhabitants know to call this location ‘Celestial Island’? The Eternals lived among humans while hiding their true identities. How did people find out that the large, humanoid body found floating in the ocean belonged to a Celestial being? If S.H.I.E.L.D. had shared information about the legends of the Celestials with Ross’ cabinet, it might have been easier for them to connect the dots.
Why Does the World Only Care About Celestial Island Now?
In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” Celestial Island significantly features as its petrified remnants contain a nearly indestructible metal known as adamantium. Given its immense worth, this material ignites a massive dispute between the United States and Japan due to their rivalry, a conflict that could potentially escalate into a worldwide disaster of unprecedented proportions.
It’s no surprise that Marvel Studios might want to forget about the less-than-impressive reception of “Eternals” by both fans and critics. Yet, its sudden resurgence in relevance is nothing short of aggravating. Up until now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has barely acknowledged the aftermath of “Eternals,” but now it appears that Celestial Island could potentially trigger World War III in the upcoming series “Brave New World.” Is it possible that the world is just now noticing a colossal frozen deity lying in the midst of the ocean?
Where Exactly Are the Eternals?
Following the termination of the Emergence in Eternals, creator Arishem seizes Sersei, Phastos, and Kingo due to their betrayal towards him and his authority. Their current locations remain untraced, but Thena, Makkari, and Druig pledge to save them upon the arrival of Thanos’ brother Eros, who claims to possess knowledge about their whereabouts.
The film concluded with an intriguing hint, but so far, Marvel Studios hasn’t expanded on this suspenseful ending. After saving the world, the Eternals left behind quite a mess – a deceased Celestial that has caused an international crisis due to its presence. It seems only fair for one of them to return and tidy up after their grand battle. In simpler terms, “The Eternals have vanished without a trace. I suppose whoever finds them gets to keep them!
