The venture already boasts Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, and Emma Mackey as potential participants. Mulligan is a highly respected actress who has been nominated for Oscars for her performances in Maestro, Promising Young Woman, and An Education, her breakthrough role. If everything goes as planned, Mulligan will take on the role of Digory’s ailing mother. Mackey is gearing up to play the White Witch, while Craig is expected to assume one of Digory’s uncles’ roles. Streep, an actor with 21 Academy Award nominations and three wins (for “Kramer vs. Kramer” in 1979, “Sophie’s Choice” in 1982, and “The Iron Lady” in 2011), is said to be cast as the talking lion Aslan.

During the filming process, the production team is yet to finalize the main characters, Digory and Polly, who are the child protagonists. Last year, there were whispers that Greta Gerwig might work with Saoirse Ronan, her collaborator from Lady Bird, for the Narnia remake. However, during a recent interview promoting The Outrun, Ronan mentioned that she has not received an invitation from Gerwig to join the project. In other words, while there were rumors, it seems that no official offer has been made yet.

According to reports, Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of the Narnia series for Netflix is said to be a multi-movie deal, with at least two films in the pipeline. C.S. Lewis’ fantasy novels, which consist of seven stories set in the magical realm of Narnia, are populated by talking animals and mythical creatures. The tales recount the thrilling journeys of diverse children who find themselves magically transported to this enchanting world.

The movie will start being filmed later this year, and it’s expected to premiere in IMAX cinemas on Thanksgiving Day 2026. After that, it will become available on Netflix prior to Christmas.
