Carlos Valdes Reflects on His Flash Journey: Would He Return to the Arrowverse?

Two years have passed since The Flash wrapped up, but conversations about the show continue among certain groups, and many fans eagerly anticipate Grant Gustin reprising his beloved character on TV again. As for me, I can’t help but wish that more of the original Team Flash would make a comeback in some shape or form. It was just recently when a good portion of the cast expressed their readiness for a film adaptation, however, it appears that series veteran Carlos Valdes might require additional persuasion.

Valdes’ character, Cisco Ramon from The Flash, was not included in the series beyond Season 7. The actor mentioned earlier that it seemed like a fitting ending for the character at that time. In a recent interview with People after working on Broadway, when asked about potentially reprising his role in some kind of revival, Valdes expressed “mixed feelings” regarding whether he wants to return to his Arrowverse persona.

I have both affirmative and negative aspects when it comes to my relationship with The Flash and its character. Over the years, I’ve been separated from them, which allows me to reminisce warmly and wistfully about that period. Revisiting it sounds delightful indeed, as I’ve had ample time apart.

It’s no wonder that Carlos Valdes might feel a sentimental pull and cherished recollections, considering he starred in The Flash for seven seasons. Furthermore, as he’s traversed the convention scene, it’s clear to him that Cisco is adored by fans, and their disappointment was palpable when Cisco departed from the series before its conclusion with Season 9.

In essence, Valdes appears eager and optimistic about reprising his role as the character, or previously known as hero Vibe. However, his additional comments suggest a stronger inclination towards not reappearing in the series.

In a similar vein, it feels a bit like flipping through old family albums. You see the images, and there’s this sense of nostalgia, ‘Wow, that was a while ago.’ It had its ups and downs, its imperfections included, but it was an enjoyable chapter. However, those were days gone by, and now we’re in the present. I am profoundly thankful for the experience, and it opened my eyes to so many things, bringing me immense joy. I put a lot of effort into it…I think I had grown as a person and as an artist, and I was ready to continue growing. I cherish it, I’m grateful for it. But truthfully, I don’t yearn to return to it.

It doesn’t seem like he’s just biding time for a new offer to rejoin The Flash, but it makes sense. The Arrowverse had a unique place in DCTV, and now that Superman and Lois has wrapped up, that phase of programming is indeed over. Furthermore, upcoming DC projects either belong to the growing DCU continuity or entirely different timelines.

Actress or Actor Inquiry Met with Adorable Reply from Grant Gustavsen Regarding Potential Choice for the Flash in James Gunn’s Emerging DC Universe

Considering the power of nostalgia and given the trend of TV series revivals today, one might wonder if there’s any chance that The Flash could reunite in some form. As a fan, I can’t help but hope for it, especially since the 2023 version missed out on a cameo by Grant Gustin.

Currently, it seems extremely unlikely that the Gustin-led show will come back. But, if by chance there are talks about a revival or discussions about it, I’d be interested to know Carlos Valdes’ thoughts. Despite this, I remain hopeful that we’ll get to watch Cisco, Barry Allen and the rest of their crew again someday.
