Carols from King’s 2024: When is the Christmas service on TV?

As someone who has grown up with the magical sounds of Carols from King’s every Christmas, I eagerly anticipate this annual tradition once again gracing our screens and speakers. Having fond memories of singing along to these carols while snuggled under a blanket, sipping hot cocoa, and marveling at the beautiful harmonies, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when I hear of its return.

If you’re looking for a classic TV experience this holiday season, the beloved “Carols from King’s” will be coming back yet again!

This year, once again, the Chapel of King’s College will celebrate the traditional tale of Christmas with songs, readings, and prayers to commemorate the 70th anniversary since their very first carol service was aired on the radio.

Once again during the holiday season, BBC Two plans to broadcast its service, gathering a select group of college members and special guests who will perform beloved traditional carols that we’re all familiar with.

When is Carols from King’s 2024 on TV?

Carols from King’s returns once more on BBC Two and iPlayer on Tuesday 24th December at 6pm.

The festive special will broadcast once again on Christmas Day at 8am.

Who is performing at Carols from King’s 2024?

Under the guidance of Dean Reverend Dr Stephen Cherry, the service commences as a lone choir member initiates it by singing the initial verse of ‘Once in Royal David’s City’.

A widely acclaimed choir is set to perform a mix of traditional and contemporary carols, such as “O Holy Night,” “Nativity Carol,” “Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,” and “Ave Maris Stella.

Following this, the choir will guide everyone present in singing well-known Christmas songs such as “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

At King’s College, the nativity tale will be recited using verses from the King James Bible and poems penned by Christina Rossetti, Edwin Muir, and G K Chesterton.
