Fans of the Cars franchise have eagerly anticipated a fourth installment for quite some time, and there’s growing optimism that this lengthy wait might finally be nearing its end. It’s almost unthinkable, but the original Cars movie premiered nearly two decades ago! In fact, 2006 corresponds to 19 years when counted in a calendar year context. Since the second Cars film hit screens in 2011, it’s been 14 years, and we’ve waited 8 years since the release of Cars 3 in 2017.
Following the release of Cars 3, enthusiasts of the franchise have been waiting eagerly for more content. The animated series titled “Cars on the Road,” featuring Mater and his pal Lightning McQueen as they journey across the country, debuted on Disney+ in 2022. Since then, there’s been a lull in updates about it, with only occasional murmurs regarding Cars 4.
Towards the close of the year 2023, during the Porsche Rennsport Reunion Event, Jay Ward, a creative director and advisor for the show, hinted at some exciting ventures in the realm of Pixar and Disney, stating there would be “some truly enjoyable projects” on the horizon.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t reveal too much just yet, but there’s definitely more “Cars” magic in the works! The beloved franchise continues to live and breathe, and I’m currently diving deep into some exciting projects that will be unveiled in a couple of years. Creating these masterpieces takes time and patience, so hang on tight for an unforgettable ride!
In December of 2023, you might’ve noticed a hint about “a couple of years.” Fast-forward to the end of this year, and it would be exactly “a couple of years” later. So, there’s a possibility that we may get updates on these enigmatic projects.
It seems that there’s a hint suggesting Cars 4 might be in the works, as a recent D23 Brazil survey from November 2024 mentioned it. However, it’s quite unusual because neither Disney nor Pixar have confirmed any news about Cars 4 so far.
If Ward’s hinted projects are still ongoing, it’s plausible that the long wait for Cars 4 might be over by the end of this year. However, at this point, we can only guess based on several clues, but we don’t have enough information yet to fully understand the situation.
If Cars 4 comes out this year, it’s probably not going to be with an immediate release due to the short timeframe. However, an announcement, sneak peek, or even a full unveiling aren’t entirely implausible given the information at hand.
