Cartoon Network Shows Saved! Find Out Which Series Survived HBO Max’s Content Cuts!

Occasionally, it seems like nothing is secure from removal on HBO Max, with the latest casualty being “The Powerpuff Girls” from Townsville. This has sparked speculation about the fate of other Cartoon Network series on the platform. However, there’s some good news: several of their most popular shows have been granted a reprieve as their licenses have been extended beyond their original expiration dates. To find out if your favorite animated series is still available, keep reading to see if you’ve struck it lucky today.

It turns out that not just Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup from Cartoon Network were removed from HBO MAX this month. Previously in May, shows like The Flintstones, The Smurfs, Be Cool Scooby-Doo!, Scooby-Doogie and Scrappy-Doo, and Tom and Jerry also disappeared from the platform. However, a recent report indicates that some shows will continue on HBO MAX beyond their original expiration dates. This includes Samurai Jack, Home Movies (from Adult Swim), Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Robot Chicken. Unfortunately, the extensions are not consistent as some series have been granted longer stays than others.

Cartoon Network’s Lifelines Explained

Initially, the Adult Swim shows “Home Movies” and “Robot Chicken” were given the longest renewals, with their licenses extended to May 2026, giving fans ample opportunity to either rewatch or discover these cult classics anew. On the downside, “Samurai Jack” and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” were granted less time before their licenses expire. The tales of Samurai Jack, Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad have been given a brief extension, as their licenses will now terminate in June instead of May. Although not officially confirmed, there may be a quicker schedule for these shows to leave MAX, so if you want to revisit them, now would be an ideal moment.

Though MAX may eventually lose several shows, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll disappear completely from the digital world. Previously, Warner Bros animated series have transitioned from their initial platforms to services like Netflix, Tubi, Hulu, and others. Although no definitive plans have been announced, there’s always a demand for top-quality animation, so it’s possible that some of WB’s best shows could reappear in unexpected locations down the line.
