Castle of Shikigami 3 coming to Steam in March

In March, Cosmo Machia plans to launch the computer version of “Castle of Shikigami 3,” a shoot ’em up game developed by Alfa System, on Steam, as stated by the company.

Initially released for arcade systems in Japan in February 2006, “Castle of Shikigami III” subsequently came out for PC on September 29, 2006, and for Xbox 360 and Wii on December 13, 2007. Notably, the Wii edition was the only one to be launched in the western world, making its appearance on May 13, 2008, in North America.

Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:

About

The computer version, known as “Castle of Shikigami 3”, is a transfer of the third installment from the “Castle of Shikigami” sequence. This game initially made its debut in arcades back in 2006.

A culmination of character shooting games set in a unique worldview!

A wide variety of newly added playable characters!

Supports online rankings and various achievements!

Controls

Control the character with an 8-way lever and two buttons (shot, bomb).

Character Selection

Characters can be chosen by players, each having distinct basic attacks, spirit attacks, unique abilities, and varying speed in movement.

As a devoted player, I get to select from two distinct styles of assault, each offering unique advantages depending on the character I’m controlling. This diversity in approach adds an exciting layer of strategy to the gameplay experience.

Additionally, you have the option to enjoy a two-player mode. This feature even allows for remote gameplay collaboration! Feel free to take on players worldwide using shikigami characters.

Every character comes with their unique history, and demonstration scenes are placed at the game’s launch, as well as before and after each level.

Furthermore, the narrative and setting adjust according to the mix of characters chosen when there are only two players involved.

Various Attacks

There are three types of attacks: normal attacks, shikigami attacks, and special attacks.

  • Normal Attacks (Shots)
    • A rapid-firing attack. Since it can attack a relatively wide area, you can ensure your own safety by focusing on this in battle.
    • Also, when the Tension Bonus System is at its maximum, it becomes a high tension attack, and the firing speed and power increase.
  • Shikigami Attack
    • In exchange for a slower movement speed during the attack, this attack automatically collects the coins that appear.
  • Special Attack
    • A so-called bomb. You can use as many bullets as you have, and your ship becomes invincible while using it.

Tension Bonus System

A system unique to “Castle of Shikigami,” commonly known as T.B.S.

If you manage to eliminate an opponent when they are near the central point of your vessel, or if their bullet approaches that area (this triggers hit detection), you’ll receive a bonus.

As the hit detection approaches the enemy’s bullet, the potential bonus significantly rises, peaking at a maximum of eightfold. The points earned from regular attacks escalate, while the quantity of coins spawned following a Shikigami attack multiplies even further.

High Tension MAX System

Equipped with a new function that satisfies your insatiable passion for shooting games!

A system that uses a unique attack to become active, providing temporary invincibility. During this time, the screen will display a red meter at its top edge for a specific duration. While the meter lasts, the T.B.S. judgment remains consistently high (equivalent to being in a state of high tension) and the coins generated are increased by 1.5 times.
