Cataclismo is Out Now on Steam Early Access

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent on strategy and survival titles, I’m thrilled to share my initial thoughts on Digital Sun’s “Cataclismo,” now available in Steam Early Access. The post-apocalyptic setting immediately grabbed my attention, and the LEGO-like building system is both visually appealing and strategically engaging.

Digital Sun’s “Cataclismo” has been released for early access on PC through Steam, following a brief postponement. Developed by the team behind Moonlighter, this new project is a real-time strategy game with survival elements, set in a post-apocalyptic universe. Players will spend their days building defenses and gathering resources, while braving the night attacks from swarms of monstrous creatures referred to as Horrors.

Using a LEGO-like construction method, you can create obstacles and blockades as you maneuver your soldiers. But beware, destroyed walls may harm your own troops, so keeping an eye on your defenses is crucial for staying alive. As players amass Wealth, they unlock new military personnel, enhancements, and structures.

In the pre-release edition, you’ll find Campaign Mode with eleven stages spread over two distinct environments, fully voiced-acted dialogue, as well as Skirmish Mode and Endless Mode. Additionally, a Level Editor comes bundled, along with Steam Workshop integration for exchanging and downloading custom maps and designs crafted by the community.

The developer plans to release further biomes, levels, and additional content throughout the next few years, with an anticipated stay in early access continuing until at least the first half of 2025. Keep an eye out for updates in the interim.
