Catching Dust Director Reveals Significance of Film's Title

As a longtime fan of Erin Moriarty’s work, I’ve been captivated by her journey from Starlight in The Boys to Geena in Catching Dust. This film is not just a testament to Moriarty’s versatility as an actress, but also to the unique storytelling that emerges when we step outside our comfort zones.

Erin Moriarty, famous for her role in “The Boys,” will debut her latest movie titled “Catching Dust” on August 23rd in select cinemas and various streaming platforms like Apple TV and Prime Video. Unlike her superpowered character Starlight, this film casts Moriarty as Geena, a woman living with her criminal husband Clyde (Jai Courtney) in a secluded Texas hideout. The story takes an unexpected turn when a pair from New York arrives, making the movie a blend of drama and thriller. Interestingly, the title “Catching Dust” is derived from a colloquial term popular in the South, as explained by director Stuart Gatt in an interview with ComicBook.

“In the South, a colloquial expression used to describe something unused for a long time is ‘it’s been sitting collecting dust’. When the producer and I were in Big Bend, the man said, ‘my thing has been sitting there gathering dust.’ This phrase is often used to refer to items that are not being utilized.”

Besides Moriarty and Courtney, the cast of “Catching Dust” also includes Dina Shihabi and Ryan Corr. The movie is produced by Gatt, Mark David, Jon Katz, and Edward R. Pressman. Notably, this is Gatt’s first feature film, having previously gained recognition for his short film, “My Beautiful White Skin,” which starred Ritu Arya, who is known for her roles in “Red Notice” and “The Umbrella Academy.”

Moriarty Reveals Which Supe Starlight Should Kill in The Boys‘ Final Season

Fans can hardly contain their enthusiasm for the appearance of Moriarty in “Catching Dust” and they’re equally eager for the fifth and concluding season of Prime Video’s The Boys. As this series reaches its finale — with Season 4 leaving no doubt that no character is invincible — speculation abounds about who will make it through. ComicBook asked Moriarty to reveal which member of The Seven she believes Starlight should eliminate in the final episodes, and her response was quite unexpected.

Hey there, based on my observations and personal experiences, I strongly believe that the latest season has significantly shifted the dynamics of our favorite series. Previously, we had certain assumptions about how things would unfold, but now, it seems like all bets are off. In particular, I firmly believe that Starlight should take down Homelander. I’ve seen enough to know that our desires and expectations may not be fulfilled, but it’s essential for her character development and for the audience to witness a sense of justice being served.

She also noted a team-up she’d like to see.

She proposed, “Ashley and any future versions of her, as well as myself, need to join forces to bring everyone under control. What do you think about that idea?”

On Friday, August 23rd, the movie “Dust in the Wind” will be available for viewing at selected cinemas, and it will also premiere on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and other platforms.
