Taekwondo: Men’s +80kg and Women’s +67kg Finals

Rebecca McGowan’s appointment was met with controversy, as some believed Bianca Cook should have had a chance to prove herself through a fight-off. However, McGowan has shown greater consistency and excelled in championship settings. I’m also looking forward to Caden Cunningham’s performance. He’s been on a roll lately, defeating top contenders like world number one Cheick Sallah Cissé. At just 21 years old, he has a promising future ahead of him. Perhaps it’s time for him to focus solely on his boxing career if he brings home the gold!

Track Cycling: Men’s and Women’s Team Pursuit Finals

I’m deeply saddened for Katie Archibald. It’s a terrible misfortune to fracture a leg by tripping over a garden step, an accident that seems so random. Yet, this unfortunate incident comes just two years after the loss of her partner Rab Wardell, making it even more heart-wrenching. Katie was on track for three gold medals, but I’m confident she’ll keep a positive outlook on life. Our women’s team remains strong favorites due to our talented quartet of riders, although New Zealand will pose a formidable challenge. The men have experienced a string of bad luck; they crashed at both the Tokyo Olympics and the previous World Championships. However, despite the mounting pressure on Denmark and Italy, Team GB still stands as a contender for the medals. JOANNA ROWSELL
