The new movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, is based on the popular video games released in 2007 and 2010. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are directing again, with Matthew Fogel writing the script. Experts predict it will earn more on its opening weekend than the first movie, potentially bringing in over $160 million domestically and $350 million worldwide. This success is thanks to Nintendo and Illumination adding many new characters from different Nintendo games to join the original cast.

However, when it comes to more demanding visual effects like ray tracing and path tracing, the handheld significantly outperforms Microsoft’s console. However, despite the negative reviews, experts predict the movie will earn over $160 million domestically on its opening weekend, showing that audiences aren’t letting the criticism stop them from seeing it. The first Super Mario movie also received mixed reviews but still became a huge financial success, earning $1.3 billion worldwide. Importantly, 95% of general audiences liked the first movie on Rotten Tomatoes, and the new film could see similar approval from viewers.
