Indeed, while there remain some questions unanswered, Ubisoft has provided significant clarification in their latest FAQ. Contrary to initial assumptions, Animus Hub is not a standalone application; instead, it’s integrated into the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows. At this point, they have no intentions of separating it into a distinct launcher.

In reference to the game improvements, there’s been a solution developed particularly for the Steam Deck. Earlier, the frame rate was confined to half the system’s screen refresh rate when playing with the Vulkan renderer outside of the Steam client. Other adjustments encompass an issue where weapon firing rates weren’t correctly acknowledged, the orientation of Blake in the ending cutscene for the weather station level being incorrect, and the inclusion of a “Recent” button in the load game menu to make navigation easier.

During an interview with IGN, Benoit explained that while the fundamental game systems remained unchanged, the primary reason for the delay was the challenging design of the roofs in the game’s Feudal Japan environment, particularly their interaction with the parkour system.

The update primarily incorporates modifications and tweaks, such as summoned companions attacking the closest foe instead of getting fixed on one, and larger companions functioning identically to smaller ones in their original state to avoid issues like getting stuck in tight spaces or bumping into ceilings. This is intended to enhance their functionality. Additionally, Killamari acquires the Water attribute, making it suitable for watering crops, while Mammorest and its Crystal variant gain the Earth attribute.
