Starting off the new year, “Family Guy” is coming back on Adult Swim, and they’re starting things big with a marathon of episodes. Originally not an Adult Swim show, “Family Guy” has grown to become one of their most iconic releases, thanks in large part to the network’s support. The success of this animated sitcom might be marking its 25th anniversary soon, but it wouldn’t have reached that milestone without being aired on Adult Swim during reruns.

Live-action and anime aren’t typically a good blend, with exceptions being few like the successful adaptation of One Piece. However, most live-action adaptations of popular anime series haven’t lived up to their animated counterparts, often leaving fans disappointed. Yet, despite this trend, creators Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari have given their approval for a live-action film based on their manga, Oshi no Ko. The live-action movie, titled Oshi no Ko: The Final Act, was released in Japan on December 20th. Toei is handling the distribution of the film, while Amazon streamed the TV series worldwide through its Prime Video service.

In its latest installment, the spin-off series titled “Dragon Ball Daima” delves deeper into the Dragon Ball universe, shedding light on why the Dragon Balls were created originally. This new anime has been a significant addition to the Dragon Ball franchise, taking Goku and Supreme Kai on an exciting journey through the Demon Realm. The Demon Realm is proving to be crucial, as it’s the very source of the multiverse depicted in other Dragon Ball series.

Task Force M is moving forward with its next assignment: Season 2. On Monday, DC Studios officially confirmed that the mature animated series “Creature Commandos,” which marks the initial project under DC Universe by co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran, has been renewed for another season even before the conclusion of its inaugural season (set to air on Jan 9, 2025). This upcoming series from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation features Viola Davis as the voice behind Amanda Waller, who enlists a covert team comprised of imprisoned monsters for tasks deemed too risky for humans, serving as the last and most extreme option.

It seems a spin-off focusing on the Trinity Killer character from Dexter is being developed, with a popular actor reprising their role for the new series. Dexter is one of Showtime’s most influential franchises due to its knack for creating both critical acclaim and an enormous, eager fanbase that never seems to be satisfied. The show has been running for almost 19 years in various forms and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. What keeps fans enthralled about Dexter is the exceptional acting from lead Michael C. Hall, gripping storylines, and genuinely chilling villains who leave viewers with a sense of dread over their heinous deeds.

Renowned director Mamoru Hosoda, who’s known for movies like “Belle”, will be releasing a new film next year. If you appreciate outstanding anime feature films, chances are you’ve enjoyed many of Mamoru Hosoda’s works. This prolific director has contributed significantly to the industry with masterpieces such as “Digimon Adventure” and even helped animate Broly in “Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan”. Known for his imaginative films with thoughtful themes, Hosoda is now working on a new movie project.
