The focus of Red Rooms is on Kelly-Anne (Juliette Gariépy), a prosperous model and internet poker player, who develops an intense obsession with the court case of Ludovic Chevalier (Maxwell McCabe-Lokos), a man charged with abducting, tormenting, and killing teenage girls while broadcasting the crimes on the deep web. Spurred by her morbid intrigue, Kelly-Anne makes it a point to attend every day of the trial, even sleeping outside the courthouse to guarantee a spot. As she delves further into probing the case, the boundary between spectator and actor becomes progressively unclear in disturbing manners. By following Kelly-Anne’s storyline, the movie explores how fascination with true crime can evolve from casual interest into something far more perilous.
