Initially launched as an exclusive title for PlayStation 4 (PS4) in 2020, Genshin Impact was initially unavailable on any other gaming consoles. However, since then, it has expanded to be compatible with PS5, Xbox Series X, and other platforms, but it is no longer available on the original PS4 console. The reason behind this, as stated by developer MiHoYo, is due to certain hardware performance and storage limitations inherent in the PS4 system.

Originally planned for a summer release, this hybrid fighting game, featuring characters from both Falcom’s renowned series, has been postponed to give the developers at refint/games additional time to perfect and enhance the overall gaming experience.

Originally, I was all set to dive into the console version of the downloadable content alongside my PC gaming buddies on March 28. However, it seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer as there’s been a delay in its launch.

At present, the game is essentially completed according to Sri Kankanahalli, creative director, as stated in a press release. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as just clicking a button to release it. We have to factor in the schedules and certification requirements of various platform providers, physical distribution companies, and Retroware itself, which has a busy fall schedule. We contemplated staging the launch by releasing on certain platforms before others, but ultimately opted for a simultaneous release, considering it worth preserving at all costs.

Following the latest deployment of Patch 3, crossplay functionality has now been incorporated into the game, a feature that was initially missing upon its initial debut.
