Unfortunately, the music RPG turned out to be a catastrophic failure, leading Nintendo to cancel the project and task Retro with remastering the original Metroid Prime games instead. Following some resolution of tensions with Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe, Nintendo terminated Bandai Namco’s work on Metroid Prime 4, and the project was then revived under the care of Retro Studios.
