It might look like I’m just listing characters I’d like to see return, but that’s not quite right. I truly believe a character can be successful even if their first appearance wasn’t strong. While some of these characters weren’t necessarily groundbreaking or villainous, they had potential, and that’s what matters most.

The team at emptyvessel is thrilled to finally share a first look at gameplay from DEFECT. According to founder and game director Emanuel Palalic, they’ve put a lot of heart and effort into creating the game’s unique feel and core mechanics. DEFECT is an immersive shooter without a heads-up display, where you can destroy any wall. It features gadgets and tools that change how you fight, and every weapon and type of ammo has a unique effect on the environment, objects, and enemies. The game world is designed to create unpredictable, dynamic stories that change based on your choices.

That way of thinking has a flaw, though. James Gunn, head of DC Studios, has repeatedly stated he doesn’t want Darkseid to be the main villain in his new universe right now. He points out that Zack Snyder first brought the character to life in the movie Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and that Marvel already used a similar cosmic villain with Thanos. While Gunn has a point, he’s overlooking the biggest reason why Darkseid isn’t the right choice to be DC’s equivalent of the Mad Titan.

Released in 1987, The Brave Little Toaster is an animated film about a group of surprisingly lifelike household appliances. Though made by Hyperion Pictures, Disney released it on video, and it gained a devoted following – becoming known for its unexpectedly scary scenes that frightened many children. Interestingly, The Brave Little Toaster shares a creative history with Pixar. Two of its writers, John Lasseter and Joe Ranft, later became central figures in the creation of Pixar’s hugely successful Toy Story franchise.

Jeff Sneider, in a recent newsletter also covering David Fincher’s unfulfilled Star Wars ambitions, investigated whether Adam Driver’s recent statements were a way to signal his interest in rejoining the franchise. He reported that sources confirmed there are currently no plans for Driver’s return, particularly with Kathleen Kennedy anticipated to leave her position as president of Lucasfilm next year.

Wow, Superman #31 was incredible! What really grabbed me was seeing Lois Lane shine. DC has been building her up for years, and this issue finally shows us the Lois we’ve always deserved – a true Superwoman. It’s amazing to see her with Superman’s powers, and honestly, the last year of Superman comics has made me realize she’s always had that potential. It’s just fantastic!
