Today, Marvel unexpectedly broadcasted a live event, unveiling 27 actors who will be joining the eagerly awaited “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to hit theaters on May 1st, 2026. As the upcoming Avengers movie, it’s no surprise that some well-known faces like Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man as Doctor Doom) are part of the cast. However, this broadcast brought a few surprises, such as some X-Men characters and long-awaited returns that fans have been excited about for quite some time.

Previously stated, a number of actors known for their roles as X-Men were hinted at returning for the 2026 superhero film, although Halle Berry’s participation was not yet confirmed. The chairs with names labeled Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming suggested that they would reprise their roles as Professor X, Magneto, Beast, Mystique, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler respectively. Although they haven’t been seen in recent X-Men adaptations, Gambit is rumored to be cast for the upcoming project, with Channing Tatum likely taking on the character after his captivating performance as the southern magician in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

In the upcoming event, some characters who haven’t made a significant appearance recently are returning. These include Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. Interestingly, Tenoch Huerta Mieja will reappear as Namor, whom we last saw in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This is exciting news for comic book enthusiasts as Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm will also be present.

Six notable characters from the upcoming movie “Thunderbolts” have been revealed, including Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh’s Yelena, Wyatt Russell’s US Agent, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, and Lewis Pullman’s Bob (possibly Sentry). The film is set to release on May 2nd, but it might give away who makes it through in the end. Unfortunately, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina and Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster were not part of the announced cast for today.
