CD Projekt Made Almost $120 Million in Profits in 2024 Without Any New Releases

CD Projekt, the company behind The Witcher 4 developers, shared financial highlights from their 2024 report, indicating a staggering $260 million in earnings and nearly $120 million in net profit. According to this data, 2024 is set to rank as the third most profitable year in their history.

In a recent financial report, Piotr Nielubowicz, CD Projekt CFO, rejoiced over the revenue and emphasized that this success was achieved without launching any new games during the specified period. You can watch his video message here.

2024’s financial outcomes for our company are exceptionally robust: approximately 1 billion PLN in consolidated earnings and around 470 million PLN in net profit. This is one of the top three most profitable years in our Company’s history, with the best annual performance achieved outside of any significant product launches.

Additionally in the video, Nielubowicz discussed notable events for CD Projekt in 2024. This time, the main focus was the debut of The Witcher 4, which was showcased during The Game Awards. Nielubowicz considers it noteworthy that Ciri will be the central character as one of the key highlights.

2024 was quite an eventful year, packed with activity yet incredibly rewarding. To kick things off, I assume many of you have been eagerly anticipating this – production on The Witcher 4 has progressed to its full swing. The pinnacle of the year, however, was undoubtedly the announcement: Ciri will be the leading character in the upcoming trilogy. This exciting news was showcased through a haunting six-minute trailer that premiered at The Game Awards ceremony.

In terms of earnings CD Projekt amassed in 2024, it appears that Cyberpunk 2077 was the primary source of their income. He also touched upon the recognition CD Projekt received for its ongoing support of Cyberpunk 2077 following its release, which included free updates and additional content (DLC).

In layman’s terms, Nielubowicz stated that Cyberpunk was the primary factor propelling the previous year in business context. He further mentioned that since its launch, the game has sold more than 30 million copies, and the Phantom Liberty expansion alone has surpassed 8 million units in sales.

Additional honors were bestowed upon us: We’re especially pleased about winning the BAFTA Award for Best Evolving Game, which was given in appreciation of our ongoing support for Cyberpunk 2077 post-release. However, we’re not content to rest on our accomplishments and aim to attract even more gamers to Night City. This year, we’re planning to make the game available on Mac devices that use Apple Silicon technology.

Lastly, Nielubowicz discussed that the recently reported profits enabled CD Projekt to beef up its cash holdings. This increased financial independence empowers the company not only on the fiscal front but also creatively, ensuring its self-reliance in both financial and artistic aspects.

He stated, “These resources empower us to maintain our independence, not only financially but also creatively. It’s evident that high-quality games with captivating narratives can retain gamers for a long time. This is the reason we invest in fresh ventures, expanding beyond the video game realm, as well as in innovative technologies, which will allow us to offer outstanding, unforgettable experiences to our franchise followers in the near future.
