CD Projekt RED is Expanding the Development Team for Project Hadar

CD Projekt RED has revealed that they are onboarding additional developers for their unnamed project, referred to internally as “Project Hadar.” In a post on social networking site X, the studio’s Vice President Marcin Blacha extended an invitation to prospective developers to join CD Projekt RED by sharing links to current job openings.

Project Hadar needs an extraordinary crew,” wrote Blacha on X. “Please feel invited.”

At CD Projekt RED, there’s a wide variety of open roles connected to the ongoing project called “Project Hadar” from various aspects of development currently being pursued by the studio. The vacancies range from senior level positions like senior gameplay designer, writer, senior game programmer, senior VFX artist, lead VFX artist, previz artist, senior technical artist, and lead technical artist.

It’s important to mention that these roles were explicitly marked as related to Project Hadar. Additionally, there were other job openings that involved work on “multiple projects”, implying that Project Hadar might also be included in those.

Back in 2022, details about Project Hadar came to light during an investors’ presentation. Since then, the game has been under development, so not much information has been shared about it. However, CD Projekt’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, Michał Nowakowski, did mention shortly after the presentation that the game will be a role-playing game (RPG), and it will offer an experience similar to those found in games produced by CD Projekt RED.

At one point, Nowakowski stated that they aren’t giving any particular start dates for the pre-production of the project. They are currently focusing on creating the setting, which is where their main team’s attention lies. Regarding the genre, they tend to develop certain types of games, so it’s likely they will continue making games within that category. Therefore, you can guess what kind of game might be coming up.

Since the initial announcement of Project Hadar, no additional information has been disclosed. In the interim, CD Projekt RED is actively developing The Witcher 4, first unveiled in December 2024 at The Game Awards. This upcoming game is being designed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. The Witcher 4 will star Ciri as its primary character.

In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Ciri was a significant character. However, it’s been disclosed that in The Witcher 4, the role of Ciri will be taken on by Ciara Berkeley instead of Jo Wyatt who voiced her previously in The Witcher 3.

In simpler terms, Doug Cockle, who voices the traditional character Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series, considers it a wise decision for The Witcher 4 to focus on Ciri as the main character.

Cockle expressed his enthusiasm, stating, ‘I’m truly thrilled!’ He believes this change is a smart decision. After all, he’s long thought that transitioning the Saga to focus on Ciri could lead to some fascinating developments for numerous reasons, primarily due to events in the books he doesn’t want to reveal yet, as he wants readers to discover them themselves. So, in essence, he finds it incredibly exciting and can hardly wait to see the results of this change.
