As a long-time fan of Gladiators and someone who has lived through numerous iterations of this iconic show, I must say that the upcoming celebrity edition has me absolutely thrilled! Growing up watching these titans of strength and agility, it’s surreal to see familiar faces like Rob Beckett, Joel Dommett, Ellie Taylor, and Louise Minchin stepping into the arena.
Gladiators, ready? Celebrities, ready?!
In the upcoming New Year, four well-known personalities will step into the Gladiators’ arena for the first time to face a set of challenges that are entirely new to them.
Although it might appear as just a fun pastime from home, the actual experience is quite different!
With a burst of holiday excitement, the BBC has verified that a special celebrity version of Gladiators will air on both BBC One and iPlayer on January 1st, starting at 6 pm.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that comedians Rob Beckett, Joel Dommett, and Ellie Taylor along with TV host and triathlete Louise Minchin were set to participate in a one-hour special competition. This includes Rob Beckett known for “Rob & Romesh Vs”, Joel Dommett from “The Masked Singer”, Ellie Taylor recognized for her work on “Ted Lasso”, and Louise Minchin who is widely recognized as a TV presenter and triathlete.
During the holiday show, famous participants will face off against the Gladiators by demonstrating their speed and power. Later on, they’ll compete directly against each other in the well-known Eliminator competition.
In an exclusive interview, he expressed that participating in the TV show “Celebrity Gladiators” was incredibly enjoyable for him, and it felt absolutely incredible to have been a part of it.
Can you believe it? I found myself staring at the screen, thinking ‘Wow, is that really me on TV? It’s surreal, almost like a scene from Gladiators!
“In reality, it’s much more intimidating than it seems on TV. On screen, it appears enjoyable, but in person, it’s downright terrifying. For instance, the Gladiators appear massive, and Bradley is truly petrifying. It’s all just too frightening!
Before the airing of the episode, Beckett expressed eagerness, saying: “I can hardly wait to feel utterly defeated by the Gladiators while my family watches, all dressed up in spandex. Meanwhile, Joel Dommett and his chiseled abs will dash past me on the travelator.
