Celebrity Number Six: A Years-Old Internet Mystery is Solved

As a seasoned gamer and internet sleuth with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the unraveling of the Celebrity Number Six mystery has been nothing short of thrilling! The intrigue, the suspense, and the countless hours spent pouring over images and theories have made this an adventure for the ages.

Over the weekend, Redditors unearthed a years-old photo of Leticia Sard?, a Spanish model whose identity had been baffling internet sleuths for five years. Called “Celebrity Number Six” on Reddit, a stylized drawing of the Sard? photo appeared on a fabric, alongside a number of other celebrities. This is the latest in a series of high-profile internet mysteries and lost media discoveries in 2024. Besides Celebrity Number Six, internet detectives have unearthed the source of the original, viral photo of The Backrooms and identified the musicians behind “Ulterior Motives.”

Back in 2020, I stumbled upon a fascinating piece of fabric online, where someone posted a photo and asked for help in identifying the intricate pop art drawings on it. It wasn’t long before seven out of eight images were successfully identified, along with the original photos used as the artist’s inspiration shared too. Among these famous faces were Adriana Lima (who strangely appeared twice), Josh Holloway, Jessica Alba, Travis Fimmel, Ian Somerhalder, and Orlando Bloom. However, it took years to figure out who the sixth celebrity was, hence the nickname “Celebrity number six.

Throughout this period, numerous speculations surfaced, with at least two famous personalities – one male and one female – expressing their belief that the image resembled them. Given the multitude of convincing theories, a subreddit was established, boasting over 40,000 members, to track down Celebrity Number Six. In this vibrant community, a rule was implemented: regardless of how promising a clue might be, the hunt doesn’t conclude until we obtain the authentic, original photograph.

For several years now, this enigma has attracted significant attention, spanning from YouTube videos by Justin Whang to popular platforms such as Distractify and The Daily Mail, with the Distractify article being published merely two weeks prior, originating from a viral TikTok video.

Following Sard?’s name being implicated as a suspect recently, the photograph in question was soon presented. A user named Stefan Morse had proposed the model as a potential suspect, which led investigators to locate Leandre Escandell, a photographer who swiftly recognized the photo as his own from a Spanish magazine issue. Although the original magazine cover — Woman #162 — has yet to reappear online, the photograph supplied by the photographer is sufficient proof for many investigators to deem the case closed.

Originating from Latky Mraz, a business based in the Czech Republic, was the fabric in question. However, it seems Escandell may not have given permission for its use in photos. This ambiguity caused complications for investigators, as Latky Mraz seemed unaware of the source of these images. In response to queries, Latky Mraz mentioned they originated from a specific magazine; however, this claim was later found to be untrue and inconsistent with the production timeline of the fabric.

In 2024, as soon as the Escandell image appeared on the Celebrity Number Six subreddit, some people questioned if it was created using AI. However, most of the commentators (numbering in the hundreds) believe this allegation lacks substance.
