As a seasoned journalist who has covered numerous international events, I must admit that the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony was one for the books. Despite the gloomy weather, the atmosphere was electric as Team Spain marched forward to the Place du Trocadero, their determination unwavering.
Céline Dion felt the power of love from around the world.
As an obsessed fan, I can only imagine the excitement and joy Celine Dion must have felt when given the opportunity to perform at the 2024 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. Despite her ongoing battle with stiff-person syndrome, she graced the stage to sing a beautiful rendition of Édith Piaf’s “Hymne A L’Amour.” Every note that flowed from her lips was filled with passion and pride, making this experience truly unforgettable for both her and the audience.
“I’m thrilled and grateful to have taken part in the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony last night. I’m overjoyed to be in one of my beloved cities once again, as shown in these photos I shared on Instagram.”
The 56-year-old expressed her appreciation for every Olympian participating in the games. She was thrilled to join in honoring these exceptional athletes, with their inspiring tales of sacrifice and tenacity, endurance and resilience.
She went on to say, “Each of you has poured so much effort into chasing your dreams. I hope that simply being here today signifies its fulfillment for all of you. You should be incredibly proud of your accomplishments. Keep pushing forward and never losing sight of your goals. Know that my support is with you every step of the way.”
At the Eiffel Tower, Céline gave her first performance since 2020. This moment was deeply moving for fans, among them Kelly Clarkson, who was sharing hosting duties with NBC for the Paris Opening Ceremony.
The talk show host expressed surprise, saying, “Céline wasn’t prepared for that situation.”; or, “Regarding Céline’s current state, she strongly believes in the importance of what she’s doing.”
Apologetically, Kelly added, “That was truly remarkable how she managed to get through that.”
The 42-year-old added, “In my field, she is the gold winner for vocal athletes.”
At that instant, an event of significance happened in Celine’s life. She not only celebrated this particular occasion but also marked a long-held desire. As she shared with Vogue France in April, her dream was to witness the Eiffel Tower once more. Celine is the mother of René-Charles, 23, and twin sons Nelson and Eddy, who are 13 years old. She cherishes these children with her late spouse, René Angélil.
In preparation for entertaining her fans once more, the “It’s All Coming Back to Me” artist has devoted her efforts towards getting herself fully prepared.
either I put in intense training like an athlete, or else I would wind down and give up, staying at home, playing my tunes, and singing along in front of the mirror.
She decided to fully commit myself, heart and mind, with the entire medical team, explaining, “I aim to reach my full potential.”
