Céline Dion Shares Touching Message 9 Years After René Angélil’s Death

Céline Dion’s great love will last a lifetime.

Nine years after the singer of “My Heart Will Go On,” who was nine years older when she lost her husband René Angélil to throat cancer, the family still keeps his memory alive by sharing an emotionally charged social media post.

Celine wrote on an Instagram post from January 14th, ‘It’s hard to believe it’s been nine years since you left us, René,’ accompanied by a photo with their three sons – René-Charles Angélil, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy Angélil, 14. ‘Every day we still feel your presence, René, Charles, Nelson, and I,’ she added.

You were my most ardent supporter, my comrade, and the one who consistently found the good in me,” she went on. “I pay tribute to you and you remain deeply missed, my dear one… We adore you.

Back in 2014, when my beloved Réné – the one I married in ’94 – fell sick, I had no choice but to put a halt to my Las Vegas residency. Every second mattered as I devoted myself to caring for him. Before he left us, I revealed the heartache I felt witnessing his deteriorating health.

In an interview with People magazine in 2017, she admitted that they lived with a sense of anticipation, even though they knew there was no hope. There were instances where she felt incredibly frightened, and he would write to her saying, “I can feel it, the end is near.

In that very year, the artist famously known for “Love Again” posted a message about her well-being following the distressing event of his demise in January.

In 2017, she shared with TopMob News that her path had been challenging. “As I’ve often mentioned,” she said, “many individuals face similar hardships. Witnessing my husband endure three years of suffering was not part of my plan. Now, I’m grateful to know he’s healthy, and our relationship has changed. Every day, I look at him through the perspective of my children.

Céline clearly demonstrates that love’s strength endures through her three sons. Notably, this multiple Grammy winner, who has been dealing with stiff-person syndrome, a disease characterized by autoimmune and neurological issues leading to muscle spasms, has found solace in her family during her personal health challenges.

In her March Instagram post, Celine expressed that battling this autoimmune disease has been one of the toughest challenges she’s faced, yet she remains steadfast in her pursuit to return to the stage and live as close to a normal life as possible. She is incredibly thankful for the affection and encouragement from her children, family, team, and each one of you!

Four months past, marking her first appearance in four years, the singer famed for “The Power of Love” delivered a breathtaking return to the stage. She sang “Hymne A L’Amour,” an Édith Piaf classic, at the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She expressed gratitude for being part of the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony performance in a July Instagram post, and was filled with delight to return to one of her beloved cities. Above all, she was overjoyed to celebrate these remarkable athletes and their tales of sacrifice, determination, hardship, and perseverance.

At the conclusion of her Las Vegas show “A New Day” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in 2007, she gave a warm embrace to both her husband Rene and son Rene-Charles.

The threesome smiled at the Happiest Place on Earth during a Disneyland trip in 2007.
