Chainsaw Man Cliffhanger Turns the Statue of Liberty Into a Deadly Devil

As a seasoned manga enthusiast who has traversed through countless realms of imaginative storytelling, I must say that Chainsaw Man chapter 178 left me utterly astounded. The audacity with which Tatsuki Fujimoto continues to push the boundaries of shock and awe is nothing short of breathtaking!

The manga “Chainsaw Man” never fails to astonish its readers! Week after week, it delights in its stunningly shocking moments, and it certainly has no shortage of them. We’ve witnessed creator Tatsuki Fujimoto masterfully handling everything from gruesome deaths to hidden identities. Now, the latest chapter 178 is taking things a step further, with the Statue of Liberty lending a hand (or perhaps a sword?). Given that the manga recently unveiled the devil hiding within the statue itself, and the Gun Goddess’s appearance is nothing short of petrifying, it seems this series has no limits!

It’s clear that Chapter 178 of “Chainsaw Man” doesn’t shy away from its visual impact. The story unfolds in New York City, where the ocean reveals an unexpected sight: the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island, but not as you know it. Due to Yoru’s summon, the Gun Goddess concealed within the statue is roused, causing her to shatter the iconic landmark to escape.

Introducing the Gun Goddess

In this rendition, Chainsaw Man presents a bone-chilling gaze to the Gun Goddess, reminiscent of the Gun Devil encountered earlier in part one. Yet, unlike before, her skeleton isn’t constructed from firearms. Instead, it appears to be derived from the internal structures of the Statue of Liberty, embodying the American symbol. The devil even incorporates the head of this iconic statue, while from its chest, the Gun Goddess brandishes a colossal rifle.

With a single call, Yoru is able to set off a shot from the Gun Goddess, and the bullet travels from New York City to Japan. The immense blow takes out part of the city surrounding Pochita, so there is no telling how many were killed in its path. Yet again, the Gun Devil has proven its immense power in record time, and Yoru is the one helming the creature’s every move. The Gun Goddess is a terrifying threat, and it goes to show why the War Devil (and her children) are not to be taken lightly.

What Is Next for Chainsaw Man?

As a gamer immersed in this alternate universe, I can tell you that with the Gun Goddess running rampant across U.S. soil, it’s only natural for the Devil Hunters from abroad to step up and attempt to subdue this menacing entity. Whether Yoru summons their offspring again remains uncertain, but it’s not impossible. As we learned from the manga, Yoru was able to transform the Statue of Liberty into the Gun Goddess due to America’s affinity for weapons. Many other nations share this trait, making Yoru’s resources in those areas abundant. Moreover, we know that the War Devil has merged with the Tank Devil, which means the Gun Goddess now boasts an even larger arsenal as she faces off against Chainsaw Man.

Yoru clearly overpowered Denji and Pochita, so any jests about her abilities can be put to rest. The War Devil, indeed, deserves the title of one of the Four Horsemen. With Chainsaw Man on the decline, the Aging Devil has extended an offer to resurrect him, but it will require sacrificing thousands of children. Now, Pochita is confronted with a dilemma, and given Fujimoto’s unpredictability, it’s hard to foresee what our protagonist will do next, especially now that he’s been cornered.
