Chainsaw Man: The Movie finally has release date confirmed for this year

After a wait of three years since the debut of the Chainsaw Man anime, the eagerly anticipated follow-up movie now has a set launch date.

Initially, it was announced that the movie named “Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc” would premiere in Japan on 19th September 2025. However, Sony Pictures has officially disclosed during its CinemaCon event that the U.S. release is scheduled for 29th October 2025 instead.

Starting on September 24, 2025, this initiative will launch in more than 80 countries around the world as part of a comprehensive global deployment plan.

Other release dates for specific territories have not yet been confirmed.

The movie as well as the prior TV series share a common origin – they’re adaptations from the manga with the same title penned by Tatsuki Fujimoto. You can watch this manga right now on Crunchyroll streaming platform.

The main character, Denji, is a 17-year-old who lives with a devil that transforms into a chainsaw, called Pochita.

In my observation, I’ve noticed a man struggling to make ends meet due to debts inherited from his father. As a means of repayment, he is forced into an unusual occupation – the harvesting of devil corpses alongside someone named Pochita.

One day, Denji meets an unfortunate end through betrayal, but before his awareness completely vanishes, he seals a pact with Pochita. This transformative event brings him back to life as the hybrid being known as Chainsaw Man, who carries the heart of a devil within him.

The film is set to follow the “Bomb Girl” storyline from Fujimoto’s comic series, immediately continuing the narrative following the conclusion of the TV show’s initial season.

The summary for the movie tells us that Denji transformed into Chainsaw Man, a boy possessing a devil’s heart, and is now a member of Special Division 4’s team of devil hunters. Following a romantic outing with Makima, his ideal woman, Denji seeks refuge from the rain. During this break, he encounters Reze, a café employee.
