Jillian Lauren‘s brush with the law ended with gunfire, according to police.
The crime writer who has been married to Scott Shriner, bassist of Weezer, since 2005, was involved in a shooting incident with the police on April 8th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s report.
The event transpired past 3:25 PM, following a call from the California Highway Patrol for additional law enforcement support to track down three individuals involved in a hit-and-run incident who had escaped into the Eagle Rock neighborhood’s residential sector. Once the area was secured, officers spotted Jillian (officially known as Jillian Shriner), carrying a handgun in a nearby yard, according to a press release issued on April 9th.
According to the authorities, they instructed Shriner on several occasions to relinquish her firearm, but she chose not to comply. Subsequently, Shriner aimed her gun towards the officers, resulting in an incident involving police firing their weapons.
According to the LAPD, Jillian took shelter in a house after being struck by gunshots. At a later time, she was taken to a nearby hospital and received treatment for injuries that were not expected to be fatal, as confirmed by officials.
The police later confirmed that Shriner had no connection with the hit-and-run incident, and it was discovered that she resided at the location where she was spotted. However, she was charged with an attempt to commit murder in absentia.
In online police records reviewed by TopMob News, bail for Jillian has been set for $1 million.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for Jillian and Scott for comment but has not heard back.
A shooting incident occurred recently, approximately a month following the disclosure by Jillian (mother of Tariku, aged 17, and Jovanni, aged 12) that she had experienced a complex medical procedure.
She posted on Instagram on March 3rd, sharing a picture of herself in a hospital bed, saying “Yes, I have a touch of the ‘C’ term.” She continually appreciates each moment of the considerate and top-notch medical care she encounters throughout her life. Thank you to all the outstanding healthcare professionals for looking after us. Let’s take a deep breath together.
