Charlie Cox Got Finger-Injured in Daredevil’s Iconic Hallway Fight

During filming for the iconic hallway fight scene from the first season of Netflix’s Daredevil, Charlie Cox suffered an injury to his finger. This detail was revealed in a recent GQ “Action Replay” video featuring Cox and co-star Vincent D’Onofrio revisiting key moments from the original series. The hallway fight, seen in the second episode of Season 1, transformed action choreography on streaming TV with its innovative one-shot technique and raw realism, establishing a benchmark that later Marvel productions have aimed to emulate. As Cox returns to his Daredevil role in Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again, these behind-the-scenes insights provide fans with a glimpse into the physical hurdles faced during the creation of one of the character’s iconic moments.

In an interview, Cox admitted that he started learning the fight scenes for Season 1 of Daredevil quite late. By the end of Episode 2, he was still struggling to grasp all the stunts and martial arts sequences. Since it was a one-shot sequence, he couldn’t contribute much to the fight scene. During one of the early takes, he accidentally hit his little finger on a pole while throwing a punch, resulting in an injury during that fight scene. Cox also acknowledged the exceptional skills of his stunt double, Chris Brewster, who performed countless moves every day.

In the scene, Cox asked D’Onofrio, “Have you noticed the microwave that got used as a weapon?” This line refers to the moment in Daredevil when a microwave is used against a goon. Cox’s casual comment, “I’ve autographed roughly ten microwaves,” hints at the intricate detail present in this sequence, a quality which fans have admired. Some enthusiastic viewers have even pursued Cox during conventions to get their microwaves signed by him.

Daredevil: Born Again Continues the Legacy of Charli Cox’s Man Without Fear

Daredevil: Reborn,” debuted on March 4, 2025, on Disney+, seamlessly picks up where the Netflix series left off by weaving the main character deeper into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. This comeback follows a significant makeover in creative direction, with Marvel Studios acknowledging the Netflix productions, replacing the initial showrunners, and refining the series’ strategy during production. After filming close to six episodes under the previous team, Dario Scardapane from Netflix’s “The Punisher” was brought on board as showrunner. Alongside Cox and D’Onofrio, several original cast members have returned, such as Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and Wilson Bethel (Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye). This reunites the cast and strengthens the connection between the two versions of the story.

In the first four episodes of the debut season, which spans nine episodes in total, the series sets up substantial narrative progressions as it continues from where Netflix left off, years later. The show kicks off by presenting Foggy Nelson’s chilling murder at the hands of Bullseye, causing Matt Murdock to momentarily step away from his Daredevil identity. Simultaneously, Wilson Fisk has been voted as the mayor of New York City, introducing a fresh power struggle between the long-time foes. The series Daredevil: Born Again, praised for its adult themes and character-focused storytelling, is highly acclaimed due to the standout performances by Cox and D’Onofrio.

New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again premiere on Disney+ every Tuesday.
