As a seasoned film enthusiast with a soft spot for gritty crime thrillers and a penchant for unconventional heroines, I must say that Charlotte Kirk‘s journey from Hollywood’s glitz to the dark alleys of London’s underworld in ‘Duchess’ has left me absolutely spellbound!
As the esteemed movie critic, I found myself captivated by the multi-talented actress Charlotte Kirk, who, following her role in ‘Oceans 8’, collaborated with director Neil Marshall on The Reckoning (2020). This joint effort saw us both writing, producing, directing, and starring in a chilling medieval horror film where I took on the harrowing role of a tortured witch. Since then, we’ve ventured into the realms of sci-fi horror with The Lair, and our latest project, Duchess, is a thrilling shift towards a gritty crime drama.
In the gritty realm of diamond trafficking, Kirk portrays a character named The Duchess. She’s a resilient, lower-class individual with a criminal past, who transforms into a formidable anti-heroine, causing ripples in a treacherous underworld.
Joining her are Stephanie Beacham, Colm Meaney, frequent collaborator Sean Pertwee of Neil Marshall, as well as filming taking place in both the bustling city of London and the beautiful island of Tenerife.
In this film, there are intense scenes involving bone-shattering impacts, and we managed to interview the actress about her profanity, combat sequences, and the utilization of a prop that appeared red, not iron.
