Chase Chrisley is in some hot water.

The police report codes the incident as “simple assault,” for which Chase is listed as the suspect.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Chase for comment but has not yet heard back.

In my perspective as a lifestyle advisor, it’s important to address the recent turmoil surrounding Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie. Their legal troubles, which involve accusations of tax evasion and bank fraud, have certainly caused a stir, given that they are currently serving their sentences in prison.

In 2022, the pair were convicted on 12 charges, which included wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and attempting to deceive the United States government. As a result, Todd received a prison term of 12 years, later reduced to 10, while Julie is currently incarcerated for seven years.

Despite celebrating what seemed like a legal triumph in June, when the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed my sentencing, stating insufficient evidence to prove my involvement in the entire fraud scheme – it was short-lived euphoria.

Four months down the line, the ruling on the 84-month sentence was affirmed by the judge. Upon hearing this verdict, Savannah Chrisley, their daughter, voiced her disapproval.

She expressed to reporters after the Sept. 25 hearing that it was unequivocally unfairness. She’s witnessed this unfairness repeatedly, and she believes the prosecutors involved are utterly preposterous and evidently uninformed. What transpired is an injustice, and she remains resolute in her efforts to advocate for her parents. She vows to speak out as loudly as she can possibly manage.

In my personal experience, witnessing my mom in the courtroom was truly gut-wrenching, and it’s particularly disheartening for any woman to observe how our gender is often handled within the system.

In August 2019, a federal grand jury in Atlanta indicted Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley on 12 charges. These charges included wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and defrauding the United States. As per reports by NBC News, the prosecutors alleged that the fraudulent activities began in the mid-2000s. The accusations ranged from evading approximately $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016, to concealing over $1 million from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

A day prior to the issuance of the indictment, Todd asserted that he and his spouse were not guilty, and instead, accused a trustworthy employee of embezzling from and extorting them.

In his Instagram post, he stated, “We have no secrets and are proud of our actions.” He added, “In fact, we not only believe we’ve acted appropriately, but we also have substantial proof in the form of evidence and numerous supporting witnesses to back this up.

Three years passed before the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” stood trial. Over a span of three weeks, numerous testimonies were presented. Despite initially pleading not guilty, they were found guilty on all charges related to tax evasion and bank fraud on June 7, 2022.

The U.S. attorney’s office claimed that the pair, along with their accountant Peter Tarantino who faced trial alongside them, were involved in a scheme to deceive banks out of over $30 million across a ten-year period.

In Keri Farley’s June 2022 statement as Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, she emphasized that fame, wealth, and status don’t shield you from the consequences of dishonesty, deceit, and theft. In the final analysis, when motivated by greed, the guilty verdict on all counts for these three defendants serves as a reminder that unlawful financial activities will ultimately lead to punishment.

After five months had passed, the Northern District of Georgia handed down a sentence for Todd of 12 years in prison, while Julie received a sentence of seven years. (Meanwhile, Peter was given a three-year prison term.)

For approximately ten years, the accused individuals swindled banks out of a substantial amount of money in the tens of millions, all while failing to pay their federal income taxes. As stated by U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan in November 2022, the severity of their sentences demonstrates the scale of their criminal actions and should act as a deterrent for anyone considering abusing our country’s community banking system for illegal personal profit.

In September 2023, the length of Julie’s and Todd’s sentences were reduced. This means that Julie is now set to be freed a year and a half before her initial date (in 2034 instead of 2035), and Todd will be released two years earlier than his original release year of 2035.

Jay Surgent, their lawyer, stated to Insider in September 2023 that there’s no question about it: Todd and Julie are exemplary detainees who were given unusually long sentences. He added, “Todd currently serves a sentence of 10 years while Julie is now serving five years.

In January 2023, the pair began serving their individual prison terms. Todd was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FPI) in Pensacola, Florida, while Julie was held in a separate federal correctional facility in Lexington, Kentucky.

Approximately half a year following the incarceration of both Julie and Todd at separate penal institutions, their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, disclosed some information about their current circumstances. She mentioned that there was no communication between her parents while they were serving their sentences in prison.

195 days with no communication between us… she expressed in her August 2023 Instagram post. My heart aches… Assist me in seeking justice!

She also pushed back at rumors about their time in prison.

She found it amusing since one of them commented, “He’s let himself go,” as she discussed on her Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast. Interestingly, they don’t sell hair dye in prisons, so naturally his hair is gray. If I were to meet him now, I’d tell him to keep the gray, it suits him well! He has a fantastic prison barber.

Instead, Todd voiced his concerns regarding the treatment he experienced at the federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, while confined.

In a call for the show Cuomo on December 2023, he stated that the food was no longer good. It had surpassed its expiration date by a full year.

He went on to say, “You’ve got rodents – rats and squirrels – infesting your storage facility. It seems they concealed the issue under plastic sheets, but the black mold damage was so extensive that they ended up tearing a hole in the ceiling. In the process, they accidentally dislodged a deceased cat from the ceiling, which then came crashing down onto the food.

Besides the disturbing events in the cafeteria, he claimed that someone additionally tried to blackmail his relatives.

He mentioned that there had been a picture taken of him as he slept, which was then sent to his daughter. He requested $2,600 per month in exchange for his protection.

Savannah, currently responsible for her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe due to her parents’ incarceration, shared the heavy burden she feels from their convictions and the absence in each other’s lives.

In a conversation with TopMob News in March 2024, she revealed that the last conversation they had was the morning he entered federal prison. She further claimed that there seems to be a significant amount of retaliation directed at her father due to our vocal criticism regarding the prison conditions.

Indeed, she claimed that the prison authorities were preventing a significant amount of his email communication with her mother.

Even though she didn’t want to make the situation all about her, she acknowledged that it could be overpowering at moments.

Savannah expressed on her podcast “Unlocked” back in April 2024, “It’s hard for me to grasp the sense that Mom and Dad are being left behind by life. Similarly, I often feel this way about people in my own life, as if they just keep going with their lives without a thought.

She went on, ‘I’m finding it hard to breathe, still seated here. It’s not just about managing finances for the children or being a parent; there’s also my personal relationships.’

In June 2024, Julie’s seven-year prison term was reversed by a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. While they maintained her convictions, the court determined that the presiding judge in the 2022 trial had incorrectly calculated the sentence for the reality star.

As a lifestyle expert, I would put it this way: In their decision, the judges acknowledged that they couldn’t find the specific evidence used against Julie for the losses incurred prior to 2007, which were central to her sentence. Therefore, they decided to overturn Julie’s sentence and send the case back to the district court. The district court is now tasked with making the necessary factual determinations regarding loss, restitution, and forfeiture involving Julie, after which they can resendence her accordingly.

In this scenario, the judge assigned her case to a lower court for them to decide on any necessary changes to her sentence, whereas Todd’s sentencing stayed unchanged.

Three months following the reversal of her prison sentence, an Atlanta court eventually confirmed Julie’s original seven-year imprisonment. In a heartfelt show of remorse, she apologized, not only to the court but also to her kids.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on my past, I acknowledge that over the years, I’ve pondered deeply about the words I wish to express. Regrettably, my actions and circumstances have contributed to our current situation, and for this, I extend my sincere apologies. These past 20 months in prison have been challenging, but the trials leading up to them have taught me valuable lessons. Once again, I apologize for my actions that led us here today.

She’s made every effort to reconnect with her family, learning new abilities like operating a forklift and serving food correctly. This journey, she explained, has been the hardest part of her life. She can never fully repay her children for their struggles, and for that, she expresses deep regret.
