Checking in On the Love Lives of The Hills Stars

As a devoted fan, I must admit that the characters on The Hills seemed to be constantly entangled in relationship dramas. However, upon stepping into the real world, many of these stars appear to have led rather untroubled personal lives compared to their on-screen personas.

The one with no studio backdrop, that is.

In my opinion, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt certainly brought a lot of excitement back when they were at the peak of their reality TV fame, even more so than any potential scandals from Whitney Port’s circle during that time. However, as they’ve matured into their 30s, they seem to have toned down the drama compared to some other shows’ casts, which is quite refreshing.

Even though a love story doesn’t necessarily need to be full of intense drama to go astray, as demonstrated by Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler when they parted ways in 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage and a decade together (though things did become somewhat dramatic before their divorce settled down).

Reflecting on her experiences, Kristin, who has been enjoying her freedom, pondered during an episode of Very Cavallari in 2020, “Though everything seems flawless from the outside, the reality is far from ideal. It’s disappointing, truly disappointing. However, that’s marriage for you – a rollercoaster ride with its highs and lows.

And then there’s Lauren Conrad, who shares two children with her husband of 10 years William Tell.

In a special post on Instagram last year, Conrad shared that we had vacationed, visited beaches, welcomed a new uncle, and marked my 10th wedding anniversary with the most cherished person in the world (apart from our little ones we brought into being). This summer was truly something to celebrate!

In the meantime, once renowned as a “drama king”, Jason Wahler – a constant reminder of Lauren’s personal struggles en route to achieving enduring joy – and his spouse Ashley Wahler are now parents to three children together.

Examining the romantic lives of a popular MTV series cast from the 2000s reveals a diverse set of stories, as the passage of time has led to different relationship trajectories for each individual.

Though much is still unfolding, a great deal has been chronicled in the books since “The Hills” debuted 19 years back, and this is the tale up to now:

Following the public fallouts with Jason Wahler and Brody Jenner, as well as a secret romance with actor Kyle Howard that didn’t work out, the fashion tycoon eventually settled down with William Tell.

In February of 2012, she went out on a blind date with a law student/musician, and her friends immediately recognized that he was her perfect match. Lauren and William tied the knot on September 13, 2014, and they now have two sons named Liam and Charlie.

The original cast member from “Laguna Beach” who later joined “The Hills” during its fifth season revealed in April 2020 that she and former Chicago Bears player Jay Cutler were ending their nearly seven-year marriage. They have three children together: sons Camden and Jaxon, and daughter Saylor.

After her divorce, Kristin was in a relationship with comedian Jeff Dye for approximately five months, but they parted ways in March 2021.

Back in February 2024, I was head-over-heels as a fan when my beloved Mark Estes, ex-college football hero, made his romantic debut with me. However, come September, various media sources announced that our dream team had unfortunately decided to part ways.

It’s possible that Audrina started a new romance with country singer Michael Ray back in July 2024. However, it’s clear that her deepest love continues to be her daughter Kirra, who she shares with her ex-husband Corey Bohan.

In September 2017, Audrina initiated the divorce process from Corey, having been married for less than a year. The divorce proceedings lasted until December 2018 when it was officially concluded.

In 2018, Audrina rekindled her relationship with Ryan Cabrera for a period, and in the subsequent year, rumors swirled about her connection to L.A. bar owner Matt Chase, who she had met via Jason Wahler.

In December 2022, it was reported by TopMob News that she began dating the producer of her “Was It Real?” podcast, named Jarod Einsohn.

In an unexpected (or predictable?) outcome from “The Hills”, Heidi and her partner Spencer Pratt managed to persevere, navigating challenges ranging from damaged friendships and family strains, to sex tape scandals and appearances on shows like “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here”, to cosmetic surgeries and lavish spending on crystals. Their instinct as a couple, often referred to as their “Speidi sense,” guided them throughout these trials.

On November 20, 2008, they ran off to Mexico for a secret wedding, exchanging vows. On April 25, 2009, they held a larger ceremony in Pasadena, California, surrounded by family, friends, and cameras. Their first child, Gunner, was born in 2017, and their second son, Ryker, joined the family in 2022.

Instead of choosing a dramatic path in romance, the entrepreneur with an eye for lifestyle opted to meet Tim Rosenman, who was a producer on her reality show spin-off titled “The City.” They tied the knot on November 7, 2015.

In the year 2017, they happily introduced their newborn, Sonny, into their lives. Since then, they’ve been candid about their attempts to grow their family through fertility treatments, with Whitney disclosing that both she and a surrogate endured miscarriages along the way.

In the year 2019, the founder of Love Wellness was romantically involved with Jimmy DeCicco, the CEO of Kitu Life, who is also a former participant on Shark Tank. Their relationship seemed quite serious, comparable to attending Yankee games and vacationing in St. Barths. However, their social media posts featuring each other decreased significantly in 2020. During this time, Lo prioritized personal wellness and growing her business.

Five years on, the well-known reality TV figure disclosed her engagement to businessman Domenic “Dom” Natale.

In his Instagram post at the time, Bosworth expressed that for him, it could only be a ‘yes.’ He thanked the person for being extraordinary and added all his love, signing off as ‘L.’ This was accompanied by a photo of them deeply embracing.

Following a series of mishaps involving Lauren on the show and several alcohol-related legal issues, Jason managed to turn his life around, ultimately finding lasting love with Ashley Stack. Their wedding took place in the year 2013.

These two individuals have a daughter named Delilah, who was born in the year 2017, as well as sons Wyatt, born in 2021, and August, who joined their family in May 2025.

Spencer’s younger sister generally avoided dating in the public eye, but when she joined the British reality show “Made in Chelsea”, media outlets across the ocean began to closely monitor her. In 2016, there were whispers that she was dating another reality TV personality, Joey Essex, after they co-starred on a different show called “Celebs Go Dating”.

During their shared interview on the show “This Morning,” Joey disclosed an intriguing detail: In actuality, he and Stephanie had gone out on a romantic date – and as a thoughtful gesture, he even gifted her a cute little pup!

Afterwards, she was linked to Bachelor in Paradise alum Derek Peth and Jonny Mitchell.

Heidi’s older sister earned a Master’s degree specializing in clinical mental health counseling and established the Women’s Recovery center in Colorado.

Currently, she lives a secluded lifestyle together with her spouse Richie Wilson, who she married in September 2014. Their family expanded with the arrival of their child, Isaiah, in May 2015.

In ordinary terms, Justin Brescia, or as you might recognize him, is Audrina’s ex. Years ago, he reached out to model and restaurant investor Lindsey Pelas through private messages, but they didn’t go on a date until around October 2018, which coincided with his preparation for season one of “The Hills: New Beginnings”. Unfortunately, by the time the season ended, their relationship had come to an end.

It appears that the ex-Prince of Malibu, presumably tied the knot with Kaitlynn Carter in a ceremony held in Bali back in 2018. Nevertheless, during an episode of “The Hills: New Beginnings” in 2019, they openly acknowledged that their union was not recognized by law.

That summer, the pair parted ways. Carter then had a brief fling with Miley Cyrus, followed by a long-term relationship with his current fiancé and father of their two kids, Kristopher Brock. Meanwhile, Brody had a short-lived romance with Josie Canseco. After that, he was romantically connected to TikToker Daisy Keech and stylist Briana Jungworth, who has a son named Freddie with Louis Tomlinson. In 2022, Brody found lasting love with surfer Tia Blanco. They got engaged in June 2023 and welcomed their daughter, Honey, the following August.

Initially, Brody’s friend was Lauren’s friend. Later, the same individual was referred to as Brody’s friend again. In 2013, this person got married to Jennifer Acosta. Now, they are Isabella, Francis, and River’s parents.
