Cherry Blossom‘s time on The Masked Singer has been cut short.
On the March 26th episode of Fox’s singing competition series, a cherished cast member from the ’90s hit sitcom ‘Full House’ was unexpectedly eliminated shortly after being presented to viewers alongside fresh contestants like Nessy, Yorkie, Stud Muffin, and Mad Scientist.
As the reality of the situation sets in and my heart races with anticipation, I must confess I’m feeling a tad anxious. But I remind myself, I can handle this! Just like Cherry Blossom showcased her stunning vocals in that video, she symbolizes renewal, the shift between seasons. It resonates deeply with me, and not just because it’s fitting, but also because there’s a personal connection here.
As it turned out, the TV star was close friends with a former Masked Singer contestant.
She playfully hinted, ‘We essentially grew up side by side.’ He showed me how to lighten up and be less self-important; he was my biggest source of laughter. Then came the moment on The Masked Singer when I recognized that voice. From the very first note, I knew who it belonged to. Although I’m thrilled to emulate them, I must admit I’m also filled with fear.
Cherry Blossom admitted that her career had encompassed many aspects, yet she’d never sung before. However, taking a deep breath, she felt it was time to experiment and enjoy herself. Therefore, this is dedicated to one of the most vibrant personalities I’ve known. I miss you dearly.
As I gracefully executed my rendition of Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud” before the discerning panel, I must admit, I felt more like a quivering pool of apprehension rather than the confident performer I strive to be.
She confided in the crowd that this was the most terrifying experience she’s had, yet she’s drawing strength from her children’s self-assuredness. One of them is a singer, though her knees feel as wobbly as cooked spaghetti at the moment.
Later on, Joey Fatone provided another helpful tip through a video post and emphasized that Cherry Blossom belonged to one of the most popular television families from the 1990s.
Unfortunately, the star received the least votes of the night and was sent home.
Regarding the speculation about the identity of the person wearing the vibrant costume, comedian Ken Jeong firmly believed it was Saturday Night Live alum Tina Fey. Singer Rita Ora assumed it was 7th Heaven actress Jessica Biel, while Jenny McCarthy guessed Beverly Hills, 90210’s Jessica Garth. Jennifer McCarthy’s fellow co-host Robin Thicke thought it might be Tracy Gold, who appeared on Growing Pains with his late father Alan Thicke.
Surprisingly, it was none other than Candace Cameron Bure, famously known as D.J. Tanner from Full House, who overcame her apprehension about performing in public by singing.
48 years old, she confessed after being unveiled, “I’ve never sung live before, but today I did, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Indeed, it was Bob Saget that Candace mentioned in her video clip. He had appeared on the show as Squiggly Monster during its fourth season, and tragically passed away unexpectedly in 2022.
After her grand unveiling, Robin, who starred alongside Kirk Cameron (Candace’s brother from the show Growing Pains) in a past role with her father, remarked that they were “operating in similar realms”.
He mentioned that we have been friends for quite some time, dating back to when we were both nine years old. At thirteen, we even tried out being a couple for a brief period.
Keep reading to meet the season 13 cast and see which other stars have been unmasked so far.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
On opening night, the charmingly sticky-sweet figure, later unveiled as renowned comedian Cedric the Entertainer, was asked to leave.
It turned out that the lush, leafy figure wasn’t just any character, but boxing great Oscar De La Hoya. However, he was disqualified during the Shrek-themed event.
The songstress under the bug mask turned out to be former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day.
Bat was none other than Vanderpump Rules‘ one-hit wonder Scheana Shay.
The hip-hop icon behind the other-worldly costume was Flavor Flav.
In a surprising twist, it turned out that the bird-like figure was actually James Van Der Beek, famously known for his role in Dawson’s Creek, who was knocked out during the championship match of Group B.
